I only really checked them out yesterday, but I don't think i've ever heard anything like them.. Mansard Roof is especially good.
Cool stuff going on in NY with them Yeasayer and MGMT about

I find them...
annoying
well
i like them
Really like them
they're fine
if a bit boring.
Yeasayer >>>>>>>>>>> VW > MGMT
meh
^
They sound
like The Police.
Why?
My copy of this album
was stolen from my letterbox, before I had a chance to listen to it.
Will be asking Amazon nicely for a new one.
I have happy thoughts
about Vampire Weekend.
Crap name
Great band. They occupy a similar place in my collection to The Shins, pleasant but not radical indie that's nice to have on in the background. That's a good thing by the way. Everyone needs some kind of background music.
I find them
quite dull.
Which is funny because I normally love insipid indie drivel.
they're gooduns
i hate the name - i thought they'd be shit! but it's actually a quality record...
pretty boring
I think they're alright
One of their songs (the only one ive heard) is alright, but i suppose it could get incredibly annoying quickly
Enjoy them
but the album wasnt as good as the singles let on.
I don't get them at all
I heard them in session on 6 Music not so long ago and have heard the single(s), I just find them incredibly dull. Don't feel like there is much to them musically.
yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn
they're so tepid. i'm sure its all dead clever, or something, but its seems to be so flawless its lacks any type of character at all. the flattest music i've heard in a long time.
BEST NEW MUSIC, then.
.
fine I guess, but not THAT great. and pretty annoying. I don't get it either.
the album is really nice
probably my second favourite album this year (BSP being the best)
love it
happy sounding guitar pop, with a few interesting little twists here and there in their rhythms and arrangements that really make it stand out.
nice strings too
I didn't engage
with the album at all. Found it quite uninspiring. The treble-y guitar tone grated. Not a great band.
they're okay.
i found the album to be somewhat decent. however, i personally don't believe they are as innovative and charasmatic(sp?) as some people make vampire weekend out to be.
I have been listening to it all day.
I like it.
It has some comically crap tracks on there, but some brilliant ones as well.
Fucking cringeworthy name check for Peter Gabriel though.
6.5/10
which do you think
are the comically crap tracks?
The one where he name checks p g
and also, Blakes got a new face.
Yeahhhhhh
blakes got a new face is a skip-track on the first listen. However i love this band, love this album. Vampire Weekend are fresh as hell and varying a genre that is diverse as hell. Best stuff i have heard this year.
In their interview with the Guardian's Guide
they were trying to explain the "afrobeat" thing, and said something along the lines of, "well they do have electric guitars now in Africa, you know"...
Yeah, I do like it.
Its definately refreshing, even though its re-hashed world music. Its good pop music basically.
nowhere near as good as yeasayer
vampire weekend
hmm, nah.
they make me happy
walcott especially.
the amount of silly things written about this band
make me laugh a bit. Maybe i'm being pretentious myself here, but I can't help but think that a lot of people are looking for a reason not to like them just because they are being hyped.
My personal take on this album is that it is a good album. In the grand scheme of things probably a 7/10, but then in the current music climate, that will probably mean it will make my top ten of the year.
So it sounds a bit Graceland in places, so what? So do Islands and everyone here was raving about them a couple of years back.
About half the songs, or rather, the tunes on this album are brilliant. Like Spoon or The Walkmen at their best.
Listen to the music, not the conjecture.
I love the album
every track is appealing in it's own way and I don't find them boring at all. A Punk, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa and Walcott are the highlights for me.
Cheers
