at college

that is

meaning university

yeah

guntrip

very very closely

joint honours

English Lit/Cultural Criticism, but not sure if I'm going to bother with English Lit next year (am in my first year now). Also doing a bit of Welsh on the side cause I needed the credits.

Computer Science

nothing

ever. ever ever. school is stupid. pretty much.

didn't you say you failed your GSCE's or something?

i think you'll find that school isn't the stupid one around here...

slightly harsh.

^ Considering my gcse/as level results

would beat most anyone on here - incredibly harsh.....

well A levels then

i don't know, saying education is stupid seems kind of stupid to me.

Fine, I can change phrasing

to 'the education system fucked me around big time'.

better?

Um, I got mostly A*s

Definitely didn't fail.....

Contemporary Art In Practise

is it's official name, art is what I call it.

'social research methods' msc

if im luck I might get a job in stats!

fairly little

MSc Public Health

I fucking hate it

Civil Engineering

it's really not as dull as you might think.

Philosophy/Politics

But I mostly seem to do just music-type stuff.

Formerly

Engineering but I'm switching to some sort of English/lingustics type thing. I've concluded I'd rather live on loan that keep on working is the main reason. Yummy debt.

piano tuning

when I go back to uni

it will be spanish, history, PPE, linguistics, or if i'm being pragmatic, computing.

I want to do a degree / open university thing

In Divinity. Sounds well interesting.

But y'know... no time/money/motivation.

Chemical Engineering

Well, I was. Now I am studying Creative Writing and Journalism using my mates notes.

.

philosophy

journalism

Me too.

Hopefully, come September.

Initially studying Journalism

but dropped out and am now studying Music Promotion

Journalism

Print & part radio

i've applied to do

english lit.
but at scottish unis you do three subjects for the first two years, so i'll hopefully also be able to do a bit of philosophy and anthropology too.

that's

quite a heavy combination you've got there, you're braver than me

that's the good thing about the scottish system though

you can try a few different things but it's pretty easy to switch subjects. it's a four year course so you have until the end of second year to decide what you actually want to do a degree in.

Which one are you at?

St Andrews, Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow?

planning on going to

glasgow, probably.

Cool. The west end is good and also the uni is good too

I went to Strath, but I lived in the west end. It made me :( everytime I had to leave the West end for the Centre.

Lore

majoring in my fingernails

with a minor in my belly button.

Once I get home

I'm thinking of transfering what credits I can into a psychiatric nursing program. I've done two years thus far in a general studies program and received a social science certificate (not sure what good it does but at least it shows I didn't sit on my ass after highschool).

although i do want to learn

japanese. which i want to actual study. i think i probably can for free, too, due to employment issues. so i'll go with that.

Composition...

at birmingham conservatoire.

Subediting & Design

also just gave up trying to teach myself Japansese for the second time...

these

English Literature/History 16th cent/Spanish

ey?

Im doing that at uni next year

Would be the ideal combination of all three

Sorry, its hard to stay brilliant sometimes.

Haha

I find that funny and I'm not even sure why.

its because youre from winchester

(which actualy has a realy good venue in form of the railway inn). I dont know why this is important, but its something to say.

The Railway Inn RULES

Have you been there? My band used to play there only, like, all the time.

i havent

my friend has though and apparently its amazing amazing amazing.

Its just a great small venue

with some really nice in-house promoters who loved my old band to bits. I miss it greatly.

loadsa

offers :D

nice,

where you gonna go then?

UCL!

UCL!

(to the tune of USA! USA)

cool man

congrats :D

yep

no cardiff and no stalking tom for you ;)

OH DAMN

now what am I going to do for the next 2 years? :(

-

which stands for?

Awesome.

It's proper awesome here (well, 'there;' I'm not there now, obviously). I'm postgrad, so I don't really get the full experience, but it would have been an amazing, amazing place to do my first degree.

Wow

this sounds amazing. Where do you study?

Joint Honours

Journalism with Creative Writing

PPE

2nd year

english lit

but i do some modules in history too

french and italian

theoretically. but since i'm spending most of my gap year in south america i'll probably end up switching to french and spanish. (seriously, i'm beyond thick. did spanish GCSE, dropped it, picked up italian for AS/A2, applied for it at uni, gap year in peru...what was i thinking?!)

but in my heart of hearts i really want to do international development or something. unfortunately my "there are only two universities" school was not entirely down with that.

Just now i'm studying Advanced Higher English, Maths and Physics

(sort of like A levels but quite a bit harder, apparently)

And i'm going to Edinburgh in september to do a joint honours in Philosophy and French. It's gonna be WIKKID

Interesting.

POINDEXTER

even the clever kids at my college dont do advanced extension.

Scotland:

Pros - Sexy accent, Smarter than everyone
Cons - Obesity, racism, knives

Seems a fair enough deal

more pros:

belle & sebastian, haggis, free uni
Cons: a rugby team that is considerably worse than England.
i want in.

WELL YOU CAN'T

At least, not until you get to about 48 and decide it would be ever so quaint to own a cottage in Uptermuchty.

aye

...aye :(

i was maybe going to do that

or possibly switch in a different language. but i'm thinking i won't now, and will just do a general language major and take just a few philosophy classes.

^INTERESTING

Politics

it's awesome. especially as everyone in my house appears to despie their course!

English lit

at UCE Birmingham and it FUCKING SUCKS.

geography...

at glasgow uni, its pretty alright, the west end is also very good and there some nice people around!!

I did Geography in my 1st year there

they made us draw lots of maps by hand :(

but we got to go on a week long piss up to York :)

Going to be studying history

next year, bar disaster.

Should be proper well mint lyk.

Music Technology

I can't wait to enter the industry that can't get enough of Music Tech post-grads.

I feel your pain

My first day in college:

"there are no jobs in this industry, every single one of your teachers is here because of this... get out while you still can"

I work

at UoB's Geography dept

English Language and Linguistics

With a little bit of Spanish mixed as well in the form of extra credits.

Gonna do some Dutch next year though, before spending a semester at Amsterdam University :)

No.

I also got to write an essay about my favourite band.

I win. :D

AND THE MURDERBIRDS

there's a band for you.

I had

a few on comically bad Boxing Helena.

Mainly because our lectuerer is a perv.

Graphic Design

Photography
Philosophy all A Levels.

Studying foundation art and design next year.

I'm probably gonna wuss out of education for a while

after I get my A levels.

I'm pretty disillusioned with education, seems a bit shit? Maybe, I dunno.

a gap year

or two is a good idea.

History

indeed.

yeah it is

i'm only going to uni so I can get cheap rent for a while, meet people, cheap booze and deals on stuff.

and because i'm to lazy to think of anything else
