Hoosiers, Kate Nash, View, Jack Penate, Hadouken!, Reverend and the Makers, Hard-Fi, Razorlight, The Enemy, Kaiser Cheifs, One Night Only, Lily Allen, Scouting For Girls, Twang - all dull and uninspiring. Why does it seem like there are more exciting, progressive and original bands coming from Canada, France and even Austrailia these days?
I find it a rarity to find a decent new British artist. Im talking bands that can compete with the likes of Cut Copy, Grizzly Bear, Midlake, Beirut, Mgmt etc And are up there with other top Brit bands like Simian Mobile Disco, Bloc Party, Futureheads, Hot Chip... Any good ones?
umm
Friends of the Bride?
ie if Frank Sinatra was indie?
i don't really know, britain tends not to be exciting. Unless, apparently, you're American, and like british music purely as its british,
Try School of Language/Field Music otherwise
A country/region/city is never devoid of good music

GREAT BANDS!!
Sighhhh
all the way up there? You pretty much named the heavy hitters..... every country has its big bands which are actually good but like all countries the UKs best music tends to be buried deep within a scene.
your solution is CHINCHILLAFEST
our 6th annual 3 day festival in leeds, cheap as fuck, waaaaaaaaaaay more interesting bands than what get talked about in press and play ATP, etc.
line up - DJ SCOTCH EGG, GAY AGAINST YOU, COWTOWN, MUCKY SAILOR, BEARDS, EATS TAPES, EX MODELS, THAT FUCKING TANK, ACTION BEAT, CHOPS, PLEASE, STIG NOISE, CISSY, APATT, ZUKANICAN, QUACK QUACK, BILBAO SYNDROME, BRONZE, etc etc etc

Interesting!
I certainly agree that Johnny Foreigner are one of the most exciting new bands in the world right now. Their new track "Salt Pepa & Spinderella" has re-confirmed this status for me. I would also add Glasvegas to this but it may be just a passing thing. Duffy definitely has huge potential. I do know of one other but it's too early with only a handful of gigs and only 2 recorded tracks behind em. But yeah! there does seem to be a divisional gap in quality of emerging talents between UK and ROTW.
Just heard Salt Pepa and Spinderella
and it's my new favourite of theirs.
...
Travel to Glasgow or Birmingham and look under a rock there. You'll probably find a new and exciting British band.
