More sunshine jangling from the nation’s favourite gang of twindie-core students, ‘Death To Los Campesinos!’ is the final standalone single before said band reveal their debut album to the world. Well, to everyone who’s not already illegally downloaded it. Which includes about five per cent of you lot.

My greatest obstacle with Los Camp! is their knowingly smug lyricism: they’re very good at twisting language to suit their clever-clever conceptualism, which can border on the clunky and ill-fitting when assessed alongside music that rarely quickens the pulse, joyous though it most definitely is. Their sugar-rushes have proven addictive, but need consuming in steady doses. But this single’s perhaps their best yet – not the fans favourite by any means, but by far the least… what’s the word… cloying. That’ll do.

Small doses like this: yes please. The whole of Hold On Now, Youngster…: I might just do a little sick in my mouth.

Alls I know is this:

Since the album leaked, I've listened to it too many times to count. They're twee as fuck, but I don't honestly care. It's perfection.

Smuggling is a crime

I have tried to like them, I even wasted time and money going to see them, but I have to admit it - this band have taken ripped off likeable people with loveable music like The Research, and still manage to be thoroughly unlikeable and annoying. Death to Los Campesinos is a bit harsh, though, what about redundancy followed by their moving to London and getting jobs involving suits and offices?

They are not

remotely like The Research.
Neither do I think that you could label their 'conceptualism' as 'clunky'.

I think I can handle the joy of playing the whole album through. Several times. In a row. Yeah.

Agree with this review 100%

but still wish you would regulate your use of italics

It's difficult for me to love a band

that has a member personally assigned to the glockenspiel. Though based on LC!s ep I'd make an exception.

This song sounds like filler, though. If it's the best track off their album that'd be bad news, indeed.

Not the fans favourite..

thats wrong. It's one of my faves and I love them!

Saw them live...

... this evening, and they're definitely better live than on record. The tweeness is balanced out with more muscularity and clout.
