Hmmm...

1.Belle and Sebastian
2.Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
3.Suede

then

4.Hefner
5.Elliott Smith (not strictly speaking a band of course)
6.REM

Nick Cave

is my no.4!

Mine are

1. Modest Mouse
2. Sonic Youth
3. Animal Collective

Modest Mouse

are quite good. I don't know- all of these are bands I feel I should like but don't

Modest Mouses first 3 albums really do it for me

they are so dark and beautiful and have moments of spazztastic rock. Lyrically the band were almost untouchable in their prime

modest mouse

seriously, your putting modest mouse in the same bracket as sonic youth, im sorry, i have to find another site to frequent...

If you have heard

This IS A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About, Lonesome Crowded West, Building Nothing Out Of Something & Moon & Antarctica then I will validate your opinion more as I will put at least 3 of the 4 albums up there with Sonic Youths finest.

Guided By Voices

Pulp
The Smiths

Devo

Plus-Tech Squeeze Box
Polysics

definitely:

1/ JANE'S ADDICTION
2/ RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
3/ GENESIS

..what do you think?:))

mine

1.Death Cab
2.The Shins
3.Mew

Damn

I totally forgot the Shins

this is hard...

1.idlewild.
2.the smiths
3.mew

Smyth2

I would have completely agreed with that about a year ago, except Mew would have been top above DCFC (and still are).

Now mine is:

1. Mew
2. Jens Lekman
3. Death Cab For Cutie

Although number 3 is always a bit here and there.

EVER?

Manic Street Preachers
Brand New
Cat Stevens (as an artist)

Cat is in my top ten

1. Beatles
2. Radiohead
3. Wilco

No I can't - I just can't

Radiohead - obviously
Sonic Youth - but... maybe waning recently?
Neutral Milk Hotel - but... only 1 truly essential album so...
Slint - ditto
Erm...
OK then Mountain Goats - so many great albums, superb live. Bit limited musically though?
Nick Cave +TBS - No, just for that appalling Nocturama shit. Great live though.
Low - yeah - rock solid back catalogue, two great singers.
What about ISIS though?
or Godspeed - they've got to be up there.

Damn you and your thread.

RADIOHEAD

have 2 points and share the lead

and sonic youth

so that's 3

1. Modest Mouse

2.Battles
3.Everclear*

*I've liked them for years and think they, in their prime, were massively underrated and passed off as a nirvana rip-off. To be fair they released a lot of shit too.

2 votes

for battles and modest mouse
