guntrip | 19 Feb '08, 12:05 | Send note | Report this | Reply

me!

4 or 5 magicians and johnny foreigner.

ace support

me, probably!

although last time I went to Kingston it took me about three zillion hours to get home, so it had better be worth the risk of this happening again...

maybe

me!

i might drag a whole load of friends along and make a night of it.

has anyone been to this 'New Slang' club before? looks like it could actually be good...

yesyes

New Slang is good.

I will be there.

is it usually ok to get in on the night

or do you think i'll have to buy in advance for everyone that wants to go?

you'll be fine

i've never had to pre-oder a ticket, even for when big acts like foals and the young knives played there, so it shouldn't be an issue at all.

that said, i think it saves you a pound, so it's your call.

have you befriended del yet? i'll be with him. come and say hullo.

hahahah

i assume i will meet you then.

oh

i am definitely going, as i have friday off work. also i bought a ticket from the banquet records website this morning, although i have no idea how i redeem it as the order email they sent me didn't have a reference number or anything. um.

this.will.be.

awesome! yes ben! aint seen you in ages! this is black jay by the way!

i'm not ben.

don't be like that

sorry

:'(

i'm ben, obvs.

hi jay!

i'm going!

Gig of Club?

What is it!?!??!

me i think

HOW THE FUCK DO I GET THERE?!?!?!

hmm

how much does the national rail cost? can i use my oyster?

£1.50 single (not sure about return)

or £1 with YP railcard.

no oyster i don't think.

^

it's dead cheap.

and there's a nightbus from kingston to trafalgar square.

N87 FTW

seriously though

does anyone know if I will have to buy tickets in advance for this, or can i just turn up on thursday with a load of friends and not be turned away??

its pretty huge (like, over 1000 i think)

so I reckon you should be fine. Though to be honest I don't really know anything.

^

it's at a PROPER nightclub, not some sweaty indie dive.

ok

i'll probably just turn up reasonably early then and get tickets on the door.

if i can't though i'm coming for YOU dan(s)

well

considering they only sell tickets through the banquet records website and not through see / wegottickets etc, i would guess it's large a pay-on-the-door thing!

:D

yeah your probably right

oooohh its gonna be a good night

damn perfectionist

*you're

maybe

get there really early?? Im surprised its not sold out. do you think they still have tickets on the door? arg.

i wish

N87 FTW was a valid postcode.

as far as i'm aware

kingston is in zone 6 of the london travel zone so you can get there with an all zones travelcard. It's about a 20 minute train from Waterloo / Clapham Junction as I remember.

cool, cheers

not for this reply as it seems to be wrong but to toby.

i'll be staying in my friends spare room at roehampton university it seems. exciting!

in what way is this wrong

in the way that it is right?

what?

was he not implying that my information was wrong?

just wondering what aspect. I'm pretty sure I'm right about where Kingston is and how to get there!

toby and guntrip

said you couldn't use an oyster card...neither did you reading it again but yeah it's not the answer i want so it's wrong.

harsh

but fair

it might not be the answer you want

but its the answer YOU ASKED FOR.

Derr brain

i'm not sure that's true

but i'll accept it because i'm afraid you'll hit me.

WHACK

HOW THE FUCK DO I GET THERE?!?!?!

Ibzo | 19 Feb '08, 13:22 | Send note | Report this | Reply

haha

oh yeah, you were replying to that question, not the other one.

i'm sorry dan_thw :D

oi.

www.tfl.gov.uk

damn you lucky people of kingston. :)

x.

Me

hopefully

do people want to go to kingston together

i.e. with me :) i really don't know how to get to places...

does anyone know

what time they'll be on stage?

I was toying with the idea

A night bus journey from Kingston sounds both fun and completely and utterly harrowing at the same time.

i did it once a few years ago

on a now-discontinued route that went over the thames THREE TIMES. my ex got happy slapped.

niiiiice

so are you going gunners? I can probably be persuaded if company is involved

sure

am :)

hey you

i might be going
and we live near each other

company all the way home baby!!

Sounds like an

excellent idea

this was BEFORE

it was cool!

oh my god.

i completely forgot about that until now. it's pissed me off ALL OVER AGAIN. cunts.

IT WAS A MAN AS WELL

I WAS SLEEPING

:(((((

your sleeping was annoying

i wanted someone to talk to.

I'm going

to this with a bunch of mates.

It's nice to get a gig my end of town...back home to Richmond on the 65 bus.

Parfait.

Think...

I'm going to be going. Really don't want to do the nightbus back because I reside in the Norf of the city and it'll take forever. Thinking of making an exit for the last tube from Richmond. Anyone have any idea for stage times?

Try

Banquet tomorrow, they're a nice bunch they should be able to help.

They put on the night.

www.banquetrecords.com

i just saw los campesinos / johnny foreigner / esiotrot in brighton

and very good it was too, but from talking to Gareth he seemed to think doors were at 8:30 (even though it's listed as 9:00) which probably means my band (4 or 5 Magicians) will be on at about 8:31 so if everyone who is going could be there by 8:30 that would be legendary, it would be nice to actually be playing to some people! If not, then 9:00 sounds good, I think I might lock myself in the toilet if they try and make me go on any earlier than that.

Just checked your myspace out...

I meant to ages ago

You are REALLY REALLY good!!!

:D

^this

I think you JAGGED your band ages ago and it was one of the best JAGS yet.

Top stuff, honestly.

Take a totter up to Glasgow, we'd love to see you here.

thanks to both of you!

I try my best. Actually that isn't true, but I still write some quite good songs nonetheless I suppose.

We're doing a tour in April and we did get offered a Glasgow gig. It didn't look possible, but now it might be - just about to send a message to the guy who asked.

So maybe see you in April!

I'll be there

mainly because I'm playing, but even if I wasn't I'd still definately go to this gig!

sorry sam you've actually been replaced

by the bassatron 5000 bass machine for this gig.

are you playing the gig tonight?

or just london?

we were meant to be playing reading

but the venue got switched and as far as I'm aware the new venue refused to have us on the bill for whatever reason.

So we're only doing Kingston (thursday) and Portsmouth (saturday).

:(

that's a shame, i onder why? they let three bands play there with late of the pier, they obviously hate you dan!

is kingston

going to get a tube station in the next few years? I'd loved to have gone to the LC! gig but the prospect of 4 nightbuses home was just too much to deal with.

WOOO

cannot WAIT for this gig tomorrow. interviewing Jofo before hand as well. gonna be so so so good. New Slang is one of the best nights out ever.

happy hour between 9pm and 10pm as well so get there early innit. £2 for every drink.

so, how was it?

And what time were LC! onstage? I live in Surbiton you see, but my proper job prevents me from staying out too late on school nights. They get so many great bands on at New Slang I've often been tempted to go down, but I get the feeling the headliners don't go onstage until really late, with it being a club night and all.

It was great

I may have been a bit drunk

They were on about 11:30 I think.......?

They were very good indeed....

they were onstage at about 11.15pm and finished up about 12pm. Played just about everything they've recorded bar the covers. You! Me! Dancing! was particuarly good.

awesome.

I still can't get my head around an indie night in the Works. I haven't been there since 2001.

Aye...

well I'm from North sides and drove down to Kingston so I had no prior knowledge of 'The Works'. I did comment to my brother that it struck me as the sort of place where people get shot every once in a while (in between the bottlings etc.)I suppose the metal detectors didn't exactly help my opinion. It feels a little bit like a bowling alley inside. That said the music selection was great and the drinks were cheap. Shame I was driving really :(

They have metal detectors

because someone was shot their last year. So yes, it is that kind of place.

The bar staff

were charming too

LC! were great

and i totally love johnny foreigner, but they didnt sound so great live? It might have a been a bit to do with Alexi being drunk, but I heard from friends who've seen them before that it wasnt their strongest performance?
Also, im not sure if i met anyone from here? I was introduced to some people, but it was all quite brief, I was wearing a brown tellison t-shirt (i have a strnage feeling I will have met someone from here)...

HI!

i met you, when i was trying to hide from Del and his horrific jailbait action.

hahaha

I had a feeling it might have been you actually, I cant remember if you said you were trying to go back to north london after new slang? Hope you made it back ok!

yes

i live in kentish town. i left new slang at 2 and got home at 4:30 :D

amazing night.

:D

I met you

I think

yes

you did.

Good stuff

was that beofre or after I commanded the audience to dance?

i saw you shout at daniel to dance

then i ran out of the crowd because i realised i really didn't want to dance. hi!

I have a really bad habit

of shouting at people to dance when I'm drunk :(

Thanks for the guestlist action!

my pleasure!

gareth wants everyone to think he's a nice person so thank him instead.

Thanks Gareth!
