Me too
:(
Are there any bands to make the pain less bad
have you heard
'Avast!' they remind me of the get up kids a little...
Motion City Soundtrack's first album
I Am The Movie, REALLY Get Ups influenced, and bloody good too. Second one's good, lost interest after that. If you can get hold of the songs '1000 Paper Cranes' and 'Throwdown' off their first EP they literally sound like early Get Ups covers.
I *hate*
that band
Ozma!
I don't miss
their albums after Something To Write Home About... but that one's SO good.
The one after that was great though -
With 'Overdue', 'Campfire Kansas' and that on it. On A Wire is it? A gem f'sho...
^
true. its actually brilliant. then they got scared cos none of the pop punk fans liked it and so made another pop punky one again. fools.
Yep, I like that album a lot.
And 'Something...'. They were both great.
Reminds me of a very specific time - one of "those" albums...
I want to listen to it now. Agreed on Guilt Show, was a real disappointment. Wa
On A Wire
Yeah it was pretty good. Some of the tracks were a bit whack tho, after STWHA it was abit dissapointing.
Guilt show was WANK tho
:(
me too.
i do a bit, though
i saw them 5 times or so so its not that much of a problem
grr
i never saw them at all!
I've been listening
to loads of nostalgic stuff I used to love like this recently like Spuerchunk and Built to Spill and The Get Up Kids and Descendents. I miss it all (although hopefully Built to Spill will tour again soon).
Maybe email them and they'll reform or summat?
One of them
is in My Chemical Romance. Can't see him leaving that sweet job.
That's not a nice story
:(
Panic at the Disco
should lessen the pain, non?
that joke just isn't funny
:P
I miss them too.
That is all.
.
well lead singer Matt Pryors current band The New Amsterdams are touring in May. Very similar to the get up kids, also on vagrant records. playing night and day, manchester, cargo london, thekla bristol and abc2 glasgow
I really can't get into The New Amsterdams
at first I didn't even know they were connected to Get Up Kids, that's how impressed I was.
I've been listening to them non-stop recently
Sunny weather and all...Campfire Kansas never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Yeah, James DeWees is officialy joining My Chemical Romance as of the next album, so it's unlikely his album (Reggie and the Full Effect) will see the light of day for a while.
One Reggie album
is pretty much the same as the next. He does good work in MCR.
He was also in New Found Glory for a while
not sure if he is anymore. He's a true legend though.
i was listening to On a Wire earlier today
it's my favourite Get Up Kids album, some fantastic autumnal indiemo songs on there.
i miss them too
:(
i miss them to
alot but we have brand new so all is well i know they sound nothing like each other
Aww.
I miss them too. Something to Write Home About and the Red Letter Day/Woodson EP are my favourites.
I will stick up for Guilt Show though -I think it's got its moments.
I wish they'd played over here a bit more. I only saw them once and that was at Leeds.
I didn't know the New Amsterdams were playing - I'll probably go along to that one if I can.
Four Minute Mile pwns every other
pop punk record of my high school years.
I still cry to Something To Write Home About.
my god this thread reminds me of my first girlfriend
I must have been such a little wet bag.
WIPE THAT STUUUPID SMILLLEE AWAAAYY!
DOO DOO DOOO DO DA DA DA DOOO
oh amy, don't hate me.
in this order:
four minute mile > that woodson ep > something to write home about > red letter day ep > on a wire > that last record.
great band. very much of their time.
i am currently wearing a get up kids hoodie
:D
Something To Write Home About is one of my favourite albums, full stop. It's basically the pinnacle of that whole pop-punk-emo subgenre, every song makes you want to dance and cry and shout all at once. It's perfect.
On A Wire has some awesome moments too. I really need to give Four Minute Mile a proper listen. Guilt Show kind of sucks though.
four
minute muile is the best pop punk album ever
Guilt Show
has Man of Conviction though
so it has a place in my heart
