Have you, would you or do you know anyone who has had a music related tattoo, whether a band logo or a portrait of a particular musician etc?
There's a guy walking around Andover who had the legend 'LIMP BIZKIT' tattooed across his abdomen way back in 1996, he must be about 30 now...that was silly.
On the other hand, this Weezer logo with Pinkerton artwork is quite nice.
I actually have
the crop circle from Led Zeppelin's Remasters album on the inside of my right forearm.
http://www.lucypringle.co.uk/photos/1990/uk1990bi.jpg
Pretty much that. all in black ink.
the weezer one is good because
WEEZER ARE FOREVER. plus, it can be pretty subtle, i guess. "w" could stand for a loved one - like wendy or walter. just make sure you make friends with loads of w's.
i'd probably get a tattoo of something that was artwork on a band's album maybe, but would still look good free from association with the band.
the girl-i-love-and-will-one-day-marry wants me to get "stay free" tattoo'd onto my wrist, because of some dream she had involving that. i can't let her down. but that's probably the most gratuitous i'd ever get.
"walter"
2 of my 3 are music related
i have "clarity" in cursive on the back of my neck after the jimmy eat world album of the same name. it's ambiguous and not obviously a band tattoo.
and i have the mew angel logo on my shoulder. which again, most people aren't going to instantly recognise as a band tattoo.
i would never ever get a portrait tattoo. most of them are awful.
My ex used to have 'clarity'
shoulder blade. It was hot
personally I like wordy tattoos
I have the lyrics to 'Underneath the Weeping Willow' by Grandaddy on my arm..
i'm not so sure about wordy ones.
i think they look great but personally i could just never guarantee that the words are always going to mean something to me. i suppose you could say that for any design but words just seem like something that you might regret more.
i knew someone who had the nirvana face.
it was bad. very very bad.
yep one of my best mates has one
the joy of having tattoos is that even if they're shit you have to convince yourself it's ok
my ex has a led zeppelin tattoo
i tease(d) her about it.
"Zoso" indeed.
ex!? :(
Bands that have already achieved 'legendary' status are a safe bet.....
but there must be people with some seriously ill advised band tattoos out there.....Campag Velocet FOREVER, I Love The Twang, etc etc
Quite recently
a drunk girl in a bar showed me her tattoo that she'd had done that day. The tattoo in question was the word "libertine" done in that style of writing. You know the one. Kind of thought she'd missed the boat slightly by about 3 years.
i've had the velvet underground/warhol banana tattooed on my johnson
it's brilliant
a real talking point
pics please
my friend has the HiM heartagram
symbol on his wrist. :S and the Static-X logo on his back. LOL
The only music related tattoo I'd ever contemplate would be the Rocket From The Crypt logo and even then I'd probably chicken out.
static "paedo" x
I have one
on my foot.
Is it a CRAINE! logo Emmi?!
: D XXX
hahaha.
But of course it is, Alex!!!! How DID you know?!
x
aaaaahah
you two still completely bummed eachother then. what happened :(
I lol regularly
thinking about an ex-housemate who decided to get a Thursday tattoo! Ahahahahaha. Thursday for fucks sake. Now he has a wanky emo dove on his arm, to remember forever how he once liked a band that was 'scene' for a little while and then became 'not scene'. Oh, and were pretty awful and naff.
surely that can't be as bad
as my mate with the Static-X tattoo?
Is it of the guitarist
who got put away?! That would be incredible!
:D
sadly not, it's just the logo.
Thats still pretty bad though
I really fancy a Drowning Pool tattoo. Or I could get 'Drowning' on one arm, and someone else could get 'Pool' on their arm.
Then we could circle pit badly at Ozzfest and lose at life in every possible way.
a friend
had a huge thursday one on his back, a circle with the dove flesh coloured then tiny lyrics written round the edge. IT was quite good actually, but then I like thursday :P
Starland Vocal Band?
They SUCK
i just remembered
that my friend's g/f has the name of his band tattoo'd to her hip. i was the first person to see it too. very...nice. dunno why i forgot.
a friend has got the smiths staple
"there is a light that never goes" on his forearm and it actually looks good. I want that weezer pinkerton one.
there's a guy
who works in a bar in Glasgow who has the cover of "Lift yr Skinny Fists..." on his elbow and it looks amazing. I always want to tell him so but dunno if that's really weird as I don't actually know him.
On the other end of the spectrum, I saw someone with the Pitchshifter eye logo on his hand the other week. Bad.
i think youre allowed to compliment strangers' tatts
in a bar
people compliment mine all the time
:)
in high school
a friend of mine got NIN tattooed as a band around his arm. i thought that was such a bad idea.
but another friend has the david bowie pink/blue lightning bolt on her foot, and that looks pretty wicked.
A friend of mine
has "everything dies baby, that's a fact" on his upper inner arm, Bruce Springsteen lyric, it's amazing.
I'm getting one of the ASMZ birds from the There's A River In The Valley Made Of Melting Snow artwork tattoed on me once I am not poor again.
Actual logos seems a bit rubbish though.
my ex
had Jim Morrison tattooed on his back. He was going to get the rest of The Doors too, maybe he has.
i know a guy that has debbie written on his arm
which has something to do with a faces song apparently
and i went out with a girl at uni that had the spacehog (!?!) logo
all mine are cutom drawn i dont really like the idea of putting a permanent picture on your body that has been used elsewhere
ooooooooooeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwooooo
(that was the beginning to in the meantime)
:D
I have...
The little aeroplane from the artwork to the aeroplane flies high.
My personal favourite was from another forum where a user had the neutral milk hotel flying gramaphone. T'was pretty.
A girl i used to be friends with
had the alkaline trio skull in heart thing on her forearm when we were 15. She had it lazered off for her 17th birthday. Now she has a vaguely heart shaped scar on her arm. it makes me laugh.
You have to be creative when removing tattoos
that's why Johnny Depp has 'Wino Forever' tattoed on his arm - when he split up with Winona Ryder he didn't want to have a massive scar.
I've met about a million people with tattooes of the Neubauten logo
Always on the inside of their forearm too. I think they're in some kind of club.
.
I know someone who has "Bitter" tattooed on his right side and "Sweet" on his left because he loves Bitter Sweet Symphony.
He also as a bottle of Jim Beam tattooed on his leg because he loves that too.
My friend
has the HIM heartogram on her shoulder and Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy's bat, skull and heart logo on her back. She's a bit emo!
If it fitted with the style of my other tattoos and I really liked the band/artwork, then I would.
FOR LIFE NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS BUMP
I went to school with a boy
who had ace freely on his arm along with the kiss logo. Another friends boyfriend has a truly awful looking dimebag tattoo, looks like the poor bastards had a stroke.
Was it Dimebag getting riddled with bullets on stage?
That would be quite impressive!
Sadly not
that would of been so much better though :D.
I briefly considered getting
a Black Flag tattoo,in fact it was my first thread(a yay or nay style one)
Never got it.I might still...
So have you any Music related tattoos?I bet you've got lots
I have 'the bars' on my arm
I love it, but a lot of people aren't even aware of the existence of Black Flag and i get kinda tired of constant explaining.
you got a picture?
I might do
i'll have a look.
cool
wow that took an unfeasably long time
but if you're still interested/alive;
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c271/mitch86/Picture119.jpg
I'm tattoo free........
It's a good thing that I didn't live anywhere near a studio whilst I was a teenager though or else I would almost certainly have something like this:
http://z.about.com/d/tattoo/1/0/a/s/121804h.jpg
You should still get that
or this
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh79/vicky4mark/shane-1.jpg
c'mon the life!
regardless of subject matter
i think the artist has actually captured their likeness quite well!
Sweet Jesus!
That must have been during their Fray Bentos addiction.
The one on the left
does have many chins
i really want this
and maybe the minor threat sheep
Combine them?
for a truly unique tattoo
ive been told this before
i want the bars on my forearm though, and the sheep just somewhere.
but im sure ill pussy out of ever getting it/never put by the money for it
Wait,
are you talking about combining the bars and the sheep? 'cause I meant westlife and the sheep.
Also bars ftw, Raymond pettibon rules.
his artwork is the best band artwork ever
although winston smith comes close i think
yeah i meant the bars and the sheep!
Yes it is!
nice call on Winston Smith he seems to get overlooked.
I still feel the sheep and westlife is the best combination
ill see what i can do
i bought a black lips single because the artwork was similar to pettibon, but its shit!
ive got the winston smith poster that came with dead kennedys first album, need to get a good frame for it and put it on my wall. its pretty cool
I've seen that dead kennedys poster
its ace!
yeah its my favourite poster in the world
If you want to be accepted in Essex............
http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/A70922/high/bmepb612553.jpg
:D
got one like that on the back of my calf, just with a bulldog underneath
there's
this song by the lucksmiths about a girl with "fiction" tattoed on her upper arm in typewriter font. I'd probably go for something like that.
Not that I ever really would get a tattoo- the permanence scares me. Whatever I were to get, I'm pretty sure I'd be pretty fed up with within a few months.
a girl at school has a hawthorne heights tattoo on her back!
this is 100% true
Oh god no
that's so bad.
I love how cliched and emo HH are
'I'm outside of your window WITH MY RAAAAADIOOOOOO'
