Watch: Lightspeed Champion gush over comics plus tour and single details

Named after the hero of comic strips Dev Hynes used to doodle in his maths book as a youngling, Lightspeed Champion is a pursuit that ever more frequently appears to be a defiant retreat into a more sincere and naïve time. Green Day and Weezer covers, a strummed acoustic guitar, untreated enthusiasm - all things that the ironic and sporadically brilliant Test Icicles would put, you’d suspect, in the ‘dislikes’ column. Now that schoolkid past of comic books is uncovered as Hynes chats for a while on his love for the mags of modern myth.

First, though – more business, tour dates and single releases unravelling into the future. Live shows you’ll find below, while ‘Galaxy of the Lost’, which features Emmy the Great on backing vocals, will be released on the 14th of April.

I spent about 6 hours

reading through his blog the other day. As a blog addict, I found it to be a really good read.

I'm just starting to come around to his music too. I wasnt sure at first, but it's definitely an album of growers.

anyone know

how can he be playing in the lake district and at blackpool on the same date?

He

filmed that comic book thing in the shop I work at and he was quite successful at just getting in the way of our daily comic book tasks. The shelf he stood in front of needed restocking for crying out loud!?

^ geek

couldn't resist.

Self proclaimed

and proud of it :)

liverpool - sound city

where or what is this new venue?!

The

Jeffrey Brown book he was talking about was Be A Man and it is indeed pretty lol.

Surprised to see Madman in there, what an amazing feat of graphic art that is. Horribly underrated but totally gorgeous none the less.

Also, they should of filmed it at Gosh as...well...Gosh>Forbidden Planet.

also

Black Hole is shit. Nothing fucking happens!

^ lol

Be A Man is very relevant to DiS' latest MTFU-ing, eh?

GOSH

are good for back issues, but FP pretty much PWNZZZ!!!1 for graphs. Plus we've just got someone to sort out the indie section, which has been really neglected.
