on some shite channel four thing, peaches geldof just described kate nash's 'caroline's a victim' as sounding like "the fall covering the birthday party...really, really weird!"

her band dropping made me weep.

anyway, what's the worst description of a band's music you've ever heard?

Probably that, actually.

I honestly don't think i've ever heard a more wrong or shite description

hahahahaha

hahaha
hahahahahaha
haha
ha!

Oh jesus

Where to start with that.

jesus

that;s not even funny.

Animal Collective's "Sung Tongs"

Being described as "I think they're trying too hard to sound like Violent Femmes."

it's nowhere near the worst description ever

but I read a review of a Johnny Foreigner gig I was at the other day (that only gave them 3 out of 5 - sorry, what? more like 10/10) that said they sounded like a cross between Operator Please and The Subways :(

no no no no no just no. If anything they sound like a cross between fucking and awesome.

my friend wrote that review

maybe i'll have to have a word

yeah sort them out

Comparing anything slightly decent to Operator Please deserves a good lambasting.

'Strap the button were trying to be like hope of the states'

poor lad didnt know much better, mind so I don't hold it against him.

fuck me

the grammar in that savy fav interview nearly made me go blind

My friend on hearing Tom Waits for the first time

"It's a throaty, wheedlingly macho mess that I am unable to a. identify at all with and b. find any musical merit in. It's a massive fucking cliche. It can go home."

The whole of

Small Change.

Oh, one of his jazz albums

I was really hoping it'd be Swordfishtrombones or Black Machine.

is this a description?

maybe not worst ever, but certainly wrong.

THANKS

everyone hates me now

nah

i hate field music too

when people resort to

saying something is a cross between two other artists, they probably prove they actually don't know what they're talking about.
There should be a law made against Peaches Geldof.

The Maccabees on E4 Freshly Squeezed

being described as having the jittery beats of the Futureheads and the aggression of the Arctic Monkeys.

This review.

Let's face it, dropping Neutral Milk Hotel references has never got anyone a shag. Okay, maybe one person. But just one.

and that one person was jeff magnum

"i'm in neutral milk hotel"
"fancy a shag?"

lol "magnum"

*MANGUM

I was just going to bring up that NMH review

My friend met peaches when shes was coked out of her mind at reading one year, he should have pushed her into one of the many sewer rivers onsite.

worst

person

ever

you people scare me

I always check these threads with butteries in my stomach, fearing one day, one of my urls are going to find themselves in the 'worst description' ever thread.

:(

I'm almost convinced writing music reviews is a form of sado-masochism. x

When Modest Mouse pulled out wireless

didnt stop a critic from some publication to write a review of their performance anyway...

Apparently Modest Mouse are a typical average forgetful prog space rock band.... aka Satalite Party

Oh, I remember a good one

I won't name them because it's a blogger whose work I usually like, but there's no getting away from the fact that they recently made a disparaging reference to "Joe Lean/Johnny Foreigner/Courteeners NME toss-fodder".

I've not actually been on noripcord in over 2 years

but this thread instantly brought back memories of this review:
http://www.noripcord.com/?q=node/114

Worst piece of writing by anyone anywhere ever? It may be...

I havent seen so much

blind love for a band ever, they dont sound anything like that, they aren't THAT good and its full of self rightious indie attitude.

"More Songs About Buildings And Food"?

Doesn't describe that album at all.

from a smegma review on here:

"The band seem to be hitting on something, encroaching on the territory of Comets On Fire and Acid Mothers Temple"

it's just baffling and completely cringeworthy.
i don't know where to start - the fact that it's completely wrong? the fact that smegma were probably an influence on those bands? that the reviewer is trying to pigeon-hole them by naming some bands that are a bit noisy?
whaaaaaaaaaat?
