but dot to dot isn't about getting big names, its about discovering what is about to become big. And I hope it stays that way!
Mt Eerie
is playing the Nottingham show, don't know about the Bristol one.

But it will still have all that, plus some academy sized acts for the same price so all good.
No harm in having biggish names
but every harm in having Bristol Academy, the Worst Venue In The World (TM) on board. That's not elitism - wouldn't mind if they used the Colston Hall or anything...
I dont get the Academy hatred.
I really like it as a venue, one of the best. The only downside is they always put way too many people in.
Venues I cnsider it to be much better than:
Anson Rooms (long and thin and nasty bar queues)
Bierkeller (stage too low, rubbish sound and views due to pillars)
Fleece (pillars and no ciculation space)
Brixton Academy (shit sound)
I could go on.
