I'm looking for some good sites that sell (for want of a better word) 'indie' releases on vinyl. Los Campesinos!, Lightspeed Champion, Bright Eyes, M Ward, Earlies, Mogwai, EITS, etc etc.
I've no independent record shops near me so online seemt he best option.
I've had a google about the place and only seem to come up with people who want to sell me the latest kickin drum and bass cuts.
Ta muchly!
i'd generally go to the labels/bands direct
eg http://www.dominorecordco.com/site/index.php?page=releases&releaseID=755
but then i tried that with los camp and it wasn't so
norman records
are really good. odd search engine though. also order directly from the record company.
www.puregroove.co.uk
are pretty good and quite often have exclusive extras, signed stuff, etc. And, much as it pains me to say it, www.hmv.co.uk are often the cheapest for more mainstream vinyl - eg Vampire Weekend LP 10.99 delivered
try
http://www.rhythmonline.co.uk/
obscenely independent, pretty reasonable postage, ran by some lovely people
indieness online
i always use banquet records, friendly service, cheap vinyl too, 7"s for a £1, even had them signed by Foals too, lots of indie and indietronic selection which is what my sets consist of
also try recordstore too, they do the 3 formats for £3 offers etc
have also imported from US, taking advantage of the exchange rate, canny remember the name of the site i used but fish around for NYC record stores
roughtrade online isn't too bad either
direct from bands too I have done, cut out the middle man and get the money where deserved
Los Campesinos are selling directly from their website, Foals will be soon (albumwise), Lightspeed Champion I think doesn't sell from own site, latest I found it was £14 from my local store
hope that helps!
definitely...
http://www.normanrecords.com/
www.normanrecords.com
www.boomkat.com
www.sisterray.co.uk
are all extremely good places to get vinyl online, especially Norman. They have good prices and occasionally put sweets and things in your order!
YES
Norman is something to do with a guy that was in Hood. If you live in Leeds you can go pick up the records to save on postage.
I love Norman Records.
Yup
another vote for norman records. Lots of stock, lots of very obscure stuff. Very friendly etc if you ever need to contact them if you've ballsed up an order or suddenly decide that you want to add to an order you made a fwe days ago etc.
Also, free sweets!
how do you arrange
to pick up from norman records?
knew it was in leeds, but didn't know you could do that
i found
Recordstore pretty good for online, usually do a bundle which includes vinyl and cd for a good price.
At work so dont have url
www.gemm.com
every album ever!!
One of two...
Either Jumbo Records http://www.jumborecords.co.uk/index.asp they always seem to be good on new 'indie' releases
or Piccadilly Records http://www.piccadillyrecords.com/ - never really used their online shop as I live in Manchester but people generally rate it!
i am one of those
that rate piccadilly's online
Awesome response
All of those are bookmarked for future reference.
Norman Records has come up trumps for initial purchasing. There goes £40 I dind't really have :)
*didn't
htfr.com
or maybe not?
Buy directly...
...from labels and bands and help support the good fight!
IS THIS TRUE?!
i mean - if you buy direct from the label or band website does the band get any more money? I thinks they just get flat amount and label takes the rest
ahhh
but not if label=band. then they're quids-in and able to maybe release another vinyl treat!
norman records, rough trade, pure groove, jumbo, action records, picaddilly are all ace.
not usually
but the label gets more cash and that's just as important really, despite being 1845756784 times less indie points scoring or something.
someone want to tell me
where i can get the Times New Viking LP?
checked all the sites in this thread (i think) and had no luck
would rather not pay £££££ for it either
this one?
