If you had 10 minutes to interview her, what would you ask?

^^^this

The only important question - her work speaks for itself and is generally fab.

where did you get

the name pj harvey?

errr

polly jean harvey?

I wouldn't ask her anything

I would just pick her up and throw her at all the people on the social board yesterday (books by women thread) who seemed to be off the opinion that women could never be as genius / creative as men.

they can't

but this thread was created by a man

at least I *think* Raz is a man.

This thread is not in itself a work of creative genius

'Songs from the City' 'Dry' 'To bring you my love' etc etc are. And THEY were created by a woman.

debateable

no, i was saying this thread was a work of genius

i was trying to point out that peej has created works of genius and *something else about polly being the greatest EVAR*

when

is she touring?

is she well serviced

by her manager? Can't imiagine Mr McGuiness gives her that much time when he's busy brokering ipod deals for U2.

^^^

poorly worded. apologies

any advance?

nothing.

I had a dream that I was third guitarist in her band headlining a tent at Reading

I can't play guitar, but can she make my dream come true?

P J Harvey can fix it

[talks into a dictaphone]

... idea for a show...

Inner City Sumo!

Monkey tennis?

Simple.

- start the recorder
- minute 1: you each do 6 shots of tequila
- minute 2: you each do 6 shots of sambucca
- minute 3: you explain that you've not got any questions but you thought you'd see what interested drunken conversations you could both have in the next 7 minutes
- minutes 4-10: the interview

- hungover the next day: write up interview as only you can.

i have tequila

in my desk drawer

hmmmmmmmmmm

what does she wear when she sleeps?

what's her favourite brand of smoothie?
who was her favourite character in byer grove?

nothing

vanilla innocent
spuggie

Ask her why I dont like White Chalk.

If you'd be so kind.

only God knows why you

wouldnt like 'White Chalk'. its pyawaahh lush.

ask her why white chalk

sounds so much like a mum album....

actually, you could ask her about her fear of moths...last two times i saw her she was being plagued by them. stopped playing her piano and had to wave her hand about to shoo it away....

doesn't everyone do that when moths are in their way?

doesn't seem to indicate a fear , does it?

i think stopping playing a song during a concert

getting up off your chair and walking about is a bit much actually- i think shes done it a few times...actually had to stop mid song to take defensive action.....i could be wrong...but its a good question.

The environment she is during the writing/recording of an individual album

seems to have a profound effect on the end result.

Ask her how much of an effect tranquil West Dorset had on the White Chalk writing/recording process as opposed to the very New York inspired 'Stories from the city, stories from the sea'.
