I'm talking about the band, but if anyone does feel like bigging up Walkers Sunbites, I won't stand in their way.
Favourite album is probably Medeiros, but Every day I... runs it very close.
I've recently started downloading a load of live shows from thiswheat.com and it just makes me want to see them live really really badly.
YES
i do love wheat. i was listening to every day yesterday, and it made me smile a lot. they are really good at pop
though i'd say that hope and adams is definitely their finest hour.
Probably true
Maybe my vision is blurred by over hearing it when I was younger.
It is a masterpiece. Just like everything else they do.
I can't really think of another band where I can say that I genuinely love every song I've heard by them.
There's a balanced opinion for you!
would you
include per second as a masterpiece?
Sorry
I forgot that existed.
Biggest advert for bands not signing to major labels ever.
Have you heard the 'Nude' versions of that album though? Like the demos they did before they got massively over produced. They sound much more like the Wheat we know and love. www.thiswheat.com if you want to download them.
YES again
And they were immense at Latitude, one of the greatest surprises of my summer festivalisin'...couldn't believe it was really them on the bill. And a set list weighing heavy on Hope and Adams, on a tiny stage, on a sunny afternoon in the woods...it was truly delightful.
I hate you
but purely through EXTREME jealousy.
Do they have any plans to come back to these shores?
I think all of my 10 picks at ATP vs The Fans last year were Wheat.
It was such a treat, hate away!
No idea whether they'll be returning soon...I do hope so
i seen them play live
they were amazing.
here
does anyone have a b-side of theirs "at first you see a superstar, and then you don't"
i used to have it, one of my favourite wheat songs, and then i lost it. if anyone would send me it, i'd be very happy
is that the title of the song
or a lyric from it?
the title
it didn't have much in the way of lyrics, except "you can get out any time that you want to" at the end
can't find it
at my usual Wheat haunts...
if it crops up, i'll be sure to get in touch!
live
I saw them at the luminaire last year and it was pretty magical (although the harmonies are occasionally excrutiating!). Hope & Adams is my favourite by a flippin mile.
yes!
i thought 'every day...' was a step in the right direction after 'per second...' (that hidden version of 'don't i hold you' is an absolute shocker) but still not as fantastic as 'hope and adams'. finally saw them play at the end of last year and they were great. the singer now looks like the chef off saturday kitchen!
I have a different view of the same gig.
It was pretty boring. They just kept playing extended versions of there old songs. I do hate standing though so you have to factor that in.
Yep!
Not seen them live since 2000 though
i absolutely love
Hope & Adams. One of the best summer albums ever. I haven't heard any of the other albums though, shockingly. The new one got quite mixed reviews didn't it?
.
Hope & Adams is my favourite also. But their last album 'Every day...' is definitely a good album also, as mentioned above by folk, a great return to form after 'Per Second...'. & as also mentioned above, that new version of 'Don't I Hold You' was just so wrong. I have the alternative version of the album downloaded a while ago I think, but don't think I've ever properly listened to it.
& I have their first album also, but I have no memories of either particularly liking or disliking it.
I enjoyed seeing them at Latitude- playing songs from their two albums that I liked made me most happy.
I only have
hope and adams, but it's very nice. :)
