and as recently as November? And there's definitely one drummer live.
They had two drummers on their first album, but playing on different tracks, not at the same time. Likely the case for the second album too. They seem to get through bassists pretty quickly too.
Unless you mean the hardcore, noisy, not nu-krautrock-esque band of the same name, who could have two drummers?
at reading festival with two drummers once, it was immense! and ive seen foo fighters do a few tracks with dave on a second drum kit in liverpool. also sounded really good! cant think of any bands where this is a permanant set up though
might be able to assist me in this, as i had a conversation around this very "2(+) drummers good" fact where I proposed Jaga Jazzist as a fine example of a great band as I was sure they had more than 1 drummer when I saw them, but this was disputed and i've as yet been unable to find out either way.
Tortoise years ago they were fart-arsing around with loads of bloody drumkits. It was well boring so I went to the bar and waited for Stereolab to come on, who, incidentally, were ace.
don't really need that many drummers, two at an absolute push, but when you see what guys with real talent can do behind those things, its already like theres 5 of em.
Having two bassists can put you on dodgy ground...
Ned's atomic dustbin (face it, they were shit)
Girls Against Boys (good if a bit samey)
I think there should be some sort of bassist redistribution programme. Bands like Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and the White Stripes who don't have any could have one of the spares from those who have two.
upCdownC... use to, but are now down to just the 1
local (southampton) promoters ahve managed to put together a band which has FOUR drummers (someone else got involved too last time, so its actually kind of 5) which is the most i know of!
Isnt there a band cannles Aa (big a little a) which has 3 drummers, or is that just 3 of them play drums at different points?
side project, flint, had two drummers. they were awful. we knew already that liam was the brains behind the prodigy, keith really didn't have to prove it to us.
Name some; i can only think of
Slipknot
Holy Fuck
I'm not too keen on the latter
The
Glitter Band
Showaddywaddy
...and loads of tedious jazz-rock and fusion bands have myriad extraneous percussionists...
Holy Fuck has two drummers?
Since when?
(They've had loads of drummers, but not, like, at the same time?)
I'm pretty sure they do
....??
Yup, just checked
and there are 2 chaps on drums
I've seen them four times
and as recently as November? And there's definitely one drummer live.
They had two drummers on their first album, but playing on different tracks, not at the same time. Likely the case for the second album too. They seem to get through bassists pretty quickly too.

Perhaps this is where the crossed wires exist
*technically* they do have more than one drummer though - criteria enough for the thread :)
^^
not live they don't
i vito slipknot
Twin Zero
That band with Karl Middleton from Earthtone 9- they weren't that hot. They're the only example I can think of though.
Rialto
and they were a bad band
was gonna say Rialto
even in the 90's when i loved anything vaguely britpop - they were shite.
Their first album
was epic * 10. Second was disappointing, but still had a few great tracks on it.
saw...
disco drive last night. 2 drummers = ace.
Santana
The Fall
Hex Enduction Hour-era...
Brilliant!
And Health! Do Health have two drummers?
LIARS! Yes, they definitely have two.
I was just about to suggest
The Fall
er, not as a shit band
obviously
the more the merrier

The Go Team have two drummers ? cos they are shockingly bad..
Appollo 440 - Shite

godspeed - had two drummers
fugazi - did for some songs
trail of dead - some songs

Bently Rythem Ace on telly with two drummers.... I use to enjoy a bit of big beat.
The...
Dirtbombs have two drummers and two bass players, right?

well
I once saw a band with 2 guitarists!
At the moment,
im liking British Expeditionary Force and they have two drummers live, ace stuff.
Rialto
Has 2 drummers
Have many do Dananananaykroyd have these days?
i saw alec empire
at reading festival with two drummers once, it was immense! and ive seen foo fighters do a few tracks with dave on a second drum kit in liverpool. also sounded really good! cant think of any bands where this is a permanant set up though
someoen in this thread
might be able to assist me in this, as i had a conversation around this very "2(+) drummers good" fact where I proposed Jaga Jazzist as a fine example of a great band as I was sure they had more than 1 drummer when I saw them, but this was disputed and i've as yet been unable to find out either way.

Genesis indeed
bloody brilliant.
Cum hoc ergo propter hoc
When I saw
Tortoise years ago they were fart-arsing around with loads of bloody drumkits. It was well boring so I went to the bar and waited for Stereolab to come on, who, incidentally, were ace.
shit and shine
(not shit)
Tortoise!!
Adam and the Ants
They rule.
i concur
Dananananaykroyd

friendly fires in paris
black eyes had two drummers
and they were amazing.
^
i think every member played drums, except they only really did it two at a time. but, yeah, black eyes are total win
The Boredoms drumfest
at ATP a couple of years back was well, er, boring.
Boring? Hell no
Bands
don't really need that many drummers, two at an absolute push, but when you see what guys with real talent can do behind those things, its already like theres 5 of em.
Mice Parade
when live and Soeza from Bristol.
...
Eye, from boredoms, did an experiment in new york last year where had 77 drummers playing at once. Although I don't see how it would work musically.
shit and shine, jazzfinger, boredoms, there's probably loads. although, granted, they are quite 'avant-garde'.
Its a great thing to witness live, too, especially when they all start playing in time, its magical stuff.

I remember the Foo Fighters
starting a Brixton Academy gig a few years back with a drum off. Best start to a gig ever.
When i saw Nick Cave live a few years ago
He used two drummers on songs like 'Red Right Hand'. Fucking amazing.
action beat.
On the other hand
Having two bassists can put you on dodgy ground...
Ned's atomic dustbin (face it, they were shit)
Girls Against Boys (good if a bit samey)

I disagree about Ned's
they's well cool. And I'm oddly attracted to Meg, so let's leave her outta this!
This thread's inspired me to listen to Man Man...
modest mouse use 2
Blonde Redhead
Saw them live with two, brilliant.
Arent you missing the obvious one?
Pavement?
Plus the following were all better when they had two drummers:
Wedding Present
PJ Harvey
Trail of Dead
In all honesty, I would like any band with two drummers. Its all I want from an act.
Princess Headbutt
were another great band with two drummers.
What about Melvins
Fucking awesome to watch.
I was just about
to question how nobody had mentioned Melvins. The new album was great.
Short lived Killing Joke side project Murder Inc. are also supposed to be good, although The Fall are the winners of this thread.
oh and the Butthole Surfers...
The statement looks pretty solid to me.
the warlocks?
seem to remember them as a bit shite
.
upCdownC... use to, but are now down to just the 1
