are there any slang words that make little sense to you in reference to what they're meant to mean?

ie. "jugs" meaning "breasts"

or "johnnys" meaning "condoms"

explain/share plz. x

you don't get why 'jugs' is slang for breasts?

let me give you a little clue...

MILK.

well why don't you just call them

bottles? or pitchers?

answer me that!

the shape

because

breasts really look like jugs....

I'm still 99% unsure of what "Nang" means/is

Think it was cool sometime last year, never fully caught on round these parts though.

cotch

bare
butters

...

Bare = An abundance or surfeit of a particular item or attribute. E.g. "I've got bare rabbits right now. I can't find the host." The opposite of "air".

Butters = An ugly woman. e.g. "Mate, your mum is butters, but I still would though. Cause I don't discriminate."

I know what they mean

but they don't relate in anyway to their meaning!

butters

would probably be from butterface, ie. "she's hot, but her face!"

.

cotch = to relax in ones environment. "Toby, Mother has gone to the Farmers Market, should we just cotch here?"

johnny condom

was a cartoon about safe sex that we saw at school...there was a song...it was ace...

"Cane"

Used instead of "hurt". I think it's a purely Suffolk thing (anyone else heard it where they are?).

So people say "My back is caning", or "That canes". It makes little sense to me though.

"Swag"

"On your lemon"
"Mint"

...

Swag = Shit

Mint = Good.

I know that,

but where/how on earth did they originate?

...

Swag originated at my school, circa 1993. Mint originated in the mind of a twat from the home counties.

"Swag" turned up at mine in about '98.

Well, this was the West Country.

an actual caning would hurt, too

maybe it's from that?

Maybe

But I've always thought it's a bit of an odd movement from noun to verb.

But cane is used when you use something excessively

eg, over accelerating a car.
I guess it has then moved to describe 'hurt' due to excessive use.?.

can be used for pain

for overusing something
or for being smashed

it's versatile

this is used round me

or used to be, surely its from the pain of being caned at school
