Buddy Miles, the drummer who helped Jimi Hendrix achieve no small level of reverence, has died aged 60.
Miles worked with the esteemed guitarist on the Electric Ladyland album and was one of three members making up Band of Gypsys, the last of Hendrix’s established line-ups.
Though the official cause of death is not yet known, Miles had previously suffered from congestive heart failure before dying at his home in Austin, Texas.
“He loved to laugh,” Miles’ publicist Duane Lee told the BBC.
"We spent more time laughing than anything else. He was a great joke teller."

One of the best..
I adored him when I was studying drums. A true legend. RIP.
He did
some killer solo albums too. Expressway To Your Skull motherfucker! R.I.P
Buddy Miles most memorable moments
Dropping his drumming stick during 'Power of Soul' at the Band of Gypsys gig at the Fillmroe East.
Same gig - Machine Gun.
:(
RIP Buddy.
This is sad. RIP
But I don't think Band of Gypsys was the last of Hendrix's line ups. They disbanded in late winter of 1970 and The Jimi Hendrix Experience reformed with Mithcell and Cox before he died in September.
fucking brilliant drummer
the drums on electric ladyland are completely underrated.
RIP
sad news indeed
that Band Of Gypsys set rules, especially Machine Gun
his 1971 psychedelic soul LP Message To The People is worth tracking down too, funky gatefold sleeve

He didnt do all of it
most of the album was done by Mitch Mitchell. Sorry I'm a Hendrix fanboy..
He also played
on John McLaughlin's rather excellent "Devotion" album.
