Is anyone going to see them at Cargo tomorrow? I have seen them before and thought they were great but haven't bought the new album yet and not sure I can afford to go, should I shell out?
They are alternative country, with quite a dark and quirky edge. Their latest material is pretty good.
I saw them perform recently at The Windmill, Brixton and was rather impressed. Enough to be going to check them out at Cargo tomorrow.
But then, I like lots of different types of music.
They do that alt.country/americana thing and do it better than most American bands (although I haven't heard the new album). Whenever i've seen them it's been a great show and they're from Cambridge, which is where I'm from too!
couple of nice songs, but a general inability to be serious: ie, they sing all their songs in a fake american accent, in a comedy way, like they are afraid to be sincere.
If they could/would be sincere, I've no doubt they'd do something good, but it's that classic thing where they'd rather pretend everything is a joke than have an audience see true emotion
