who's going? Who's unmissable? I only really know Final Fantasy, a bit of Frog Eyes and that Black Flag covers album wot Dirty Projectors did.

Dirty Projectors
were amazing supporting The Blow a while back, can't wait to see them again. It's going to be a bit of a mad dash from work to get there for Frog Eyes though :o
oh balls
I need to get to vauxhall afterwards
I've taken the day off
so fortunately won't miss Frog Eyes. They pretty much impressed the life out of me last time I saw them so it's certainly not one to miss.
Very excited.
hmmm
not sure I can be arsed with 6 bands. Might go to the pub then amble in for Dirty Projectors.
*5
I'm more excited about
Dirty Projectors than Final Fantasy
Wooooo
o man
i wanted to see pagan wanderer lu at 7:15 at the ICA. but NAY
has anyone seen
Dirty Projectors before? Do they play the Black Flag stuff?
yeah
they will stick to that last album.
Frog eyes will be good
ill be attending,
Is it sold out...
Can I get a ticket on the door?
i have a ticket!
£16. do you want it?
Kind of tossed off Frog Eyes are first on
But hopfully will make it in time, should be a riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiot
I can't believe there's not more...
...love for six organs! He's the highlight for me.
I was about to post
words to that effect. I'm basically going just for Six Organs, with the Tucker/O'Malley duet as an added bonus. The other 3 acts just elicit a big fat "meh" from me.
Any idea what configuration of 6 Organs will be playing? Is Elisa going to be in the band?
Haha
You loose at music taste.
Very
excited!
Where's the Final Fantasy love?
Or is he to popular now?
;)
Frog Eyes
are AMAZING live. I urge everyone to get there in time to see them if at all humanly possible.
Ridiculously good line-up.
hmmm
did anyone get really annoyed by the general background chatting noise for most of the evening, and the terrible sound for the first few act?
Other than that, Alex & Stephen were great, and Final Fantasy were wonderful.
And then my entertainment on my bus trip home were most of the Mystery Jets and a We are scientist behaving quite drunkenly (though the WAS looked a bit embarrassed)
yeah
I dont understand soundmen, they can hear how bad it sounds just like the audience but have the power to improve it yet don't. Frog eyes set was more or less ruined, the unamplified vocals were the highlight. Dirty projectorys were better than I was expecting, for the first time I actually acted on the impulse to leave during alexander tucker which was a shame as I would have like to see final fantasy
.
but most soundmen are probably half deaf anyway.
Halfway through the gig, I was seriously thinking about never going to gigs in venues for 1200-2000ish people. The last few times I've been to a gig of that size it has always been a disappointment.
Yeah...
Frog Eyes was ruined by the godawful sound, which was even more galling as Carey Mercer was on top form. Got better for Dirty Projectors, who were ace but Alex and Stephen bored me to tears. Only got to see half of Owen's set, but what I saw was pretty damn good.
^what that guy said, for me.
Also I met MelesMeles!! LOLOMG!!
Woo
I actually literally got recognised like I was some sort of celebrity or something! Wow!
sound
the sound was wierd, i walked in half way though Frog Eyes and you couldnt make out anyhthing... it was a bit better stood next to the PA but still. Mostly shoddy but ok in places!
Six Organs and Dirty Projectors were both fantastic. Alex and Stephen got very boring after a while - although the crowd really was a bit harsh.
Final Fantasy... well, what can you say! The new song that started on the keyboard was beautiful. Shame the set was so brief!
Dirty Projectors were incredible.
Even better than I expected.
Really, they inspired awe in me.
Tucker/O'Malley were boring but had a nice line in strange biological/chemical reaction videos.
Dirty Projectors
were amazing. The sound was well shoddy though. Typical London gig - 70% chattering, 30% band.
Owen Pallett was fantastic as usual, shame it was so short, especially after the utterly, utterly boring, self-indulgent shite of Alex & Stephen. Fuck them and their late nineties club visuals.
Thirded.
Dirty Projectors were the definate highlight for me.
that was ok
dirty projectors were brilliant, absolutely stunning.
nice to meet melesmeles, seeingotherpeople, yesiamaduck and lgordon (who also sold me a ticket, so thank you).
shame it overran though.
A very disappointing evening
Sound for Frog Eyes was poor, but I suspect that I wouldn't have liked him much anyway- songs far too long and meandering to no good purpose.
Enjoyed Six Organs, but it is Elisa who makes the band.So won't bother with him on his own.
Dirty Projectors were good at what they do, and got better as they went on, but there is something very irritating about the Jim Carrey like guitarist.
Alex and Stephen simply took the piss, so I left at that point.
It were cool to meet you
u were most friendly
Yeah nice to meet you too
shame lgordon didn't show up in time for me to see all of Frog Eyes but I guess I should have listened to my mother when she said you can't trust teen indie-folk-pop singers for being punctual.
PS: thanks to lgordon for selling me one of his spare tickets.
hey was nice to meet you too
albeit very briefly.
what is everybody's problem
with Alexander Tucker and Steven O'Malley? I thought they were great.
I really could have appreciated not having to wait outside for an hour, despite having bought a ticket, causing me to miss all of Six Organs and nearly all of Dirty Projectors :(
Finally I feel I need to apologise to Yesiamaduck on behalf of Stealthy for threatening him with violence in the street afterwards.
Bad luck.
We had tickets and were waved straight in. This was about 7.30.
Was that Stealthy?
I wasnt with it at all by that point, I was just confused :P
...
I enjoyed every minute of your confusion. That said, it wasn't even my fault! THEY were the ones who pointed you out. THEY were the ones who told me who you were when I was all like "Yesiamawho?" You can't give me that kind of a window!
I still think we should fight.
Next time, next time
:P
I really disliked the sound
especially during Frog Eyes, Six Organs was pretty good too. Final Fantasys set was really nice... bur during Alex & Stephen we were so bored that we just went to ze lobby and relaxed, the crowd was terrible for them.. kind of disrespectful, dont like it? Then go away like we did
My friend
started playing Sanke on his phone.
I thought it was disrespectful - but then I realised that I was watching him...
Really?
I thought lying on the floor was disrespectful?
Yes.
Yes it was.
I saw the back of your head!
how do you know?
My head
MINNNNE!
yes i knows how these boards work
but still, how does she know?
I dunno
im tall :D
Kid_A was all like
there's yesiamaduck, I was all what, the back of the head of that tall brunette over there? He said yes.
Safe.
alex & stephen
were the worst band i've ever seen. gave me confidence about forming a band because it shows just how shit you can get away with being.
Final Fantasy, was fantastic as usual.
The rest of the night was a little disappointing.
I missed Frog Eyes. Six Organs and Dirty Projectors were OK, but nothing that special. Alex & Stephen were just dull.
Why do people get near to the front, and then just yack all the way through?
agreed
very dull,
single note marathon
man
alex & stephen were great. i wanted to kill about 90% of the crowd for talking through it. it was really, really beautiful. the projections were great too.
dirty projectors were obviously incredible. i've never seen them before. the singer is pretty much the best guitarist i've ever seen. though i say that about once every three months. and those panned backing vocals--wowza.
final fantasy was great but one guy on a stage with a loop pedal, however brilliant, isn't going to top what came before.
NAVAJO
you idiot.
Thats strange
I wanted to kill them for soundtracking those lovely projections so poorly.
hahaha
the projections > the music so so much.
by the way sorry i didn't stick around and chat, i realise i must have seemed quite rude actually, but i wasn't feeling very happy last night. what did you get up to afterwards?
Took last tube home
then stayed round John Brainlove's.
And then today spent 6 hours travelling back due to those fucking wind-related disruptions. So I'm now pretty much destroyed. Just about worth it though.
Yourself?
oh you know
dropped my ex girlfriend off at her flat then walked around lost and sad because i still harbor a love for her...but yeah it was cool!
I left during Stephen and Alex
because I was bored
first things first.
massively sorry I was late guys. our bus got in about 15 minutes late. then we had a mission of finding sam, then getting to the venue. sorry about that.
as for the gig I had a really great time.
what i saw of frog eyes was great, six organs seemed good but was let down by naff sound. dirty projectors were awesome and that band after them were monumentally shite.
final fantasy blew me away. the projecctions behind him enhanced it 10 fold. they were gorgeous.
basically he was/is the motherfucking bomb.
don't worry about it
thanks for the tickets though and it was nice to meet you.
i completely forgot about the projections behind final fantasy - they were really quite something.
anyone who claims to have liked
Steven and Alex is either extremely pretentious, or a heroin addict.
^5
Thats the sort of dichotomy that I can really get on board with.
Disappointed, UK.
Missed Frog Eyes and Six Organs due to being stuck in the queue for about an hour. What a crock of shit that queue was. If the venue/promoter can't handle box office collection right then just don't attempt it please.
Got in about halfway through Dirty Projectors and could just about hear their goodness through the crap sound and London chatter.
O'Malley and friend - zzzzzzzzzzzz.
Final Fantasy was absolutely amazing but the set was soooo short. I wanted to cry.
I think I saw some DiSsers. Was MelesMeles standing with 2 other DiS-looking people and a girl for a while? Hi! maybe.
Yes, I was.
Hi!
The other DiS-looking people were the users henrybenryo and Havisham, btw. They're only half-DiSers really though, they're not cool enough to be on here all the time. The girl was just this American girl who we were chatting to. Then her friends left, for some reason, during the set, and about fifteen minutes later so did she. Mysterious. Or dull. Make up your own mind.
It seems I missed loads of DiSers there too.
