Big question. Big. Full-length studio albums only, no EPs/extra discs/live releases. I haven't listened to all of the albums in anywhere enough depth to make a strong decision but off the top of my head it looks like:
1) OK Computer
2) The Bends
3) In Rainbows
4) Amnesiac
5) Kid A (despite Idioteque being in my top five songs of all time)
6) Hail To The Thief
7) Pablo Honey
ok...
Ok Computer
Kid A
The Bends
In Rainbows
Hail To The Thief
Amnesiac
Pablo Honey
I actually
agree with this entirely.
^
This
I already
want to swap Amnesiac and The Bends around.
don't
...
OK Computer
Kid A
Amnesiac
In Rainbows
The Bends
Hail to the Thief
Pablo Honey
ummm
1) OK Computer
2) The Bends
3) In Rainbows
4) Kid A
5) Hail to the Thief
6) Amnesiac
7) Pablo Honey
i love them all
maybe
i would swap in rainbows and kid a..
again?
Am I the only one giving serious loving to 'Hail to the Thief'?
I can't understand why it doesn't rate higher in people's estimation. 2+2=5? There There? Where I end and you begin? In my opinion the best radiohead song... So
1) Hail to the Thief
2) The Bends
3) OK Computer
4) In Rainbows
5) Amnesiac
6) Kid A
7) Pablo Honey
But there's a lot of filler
If they'd exercised a bit more quality control it would be a classic album.
Interesting philosophical point
Do we judge the success of an album by the height of its highs or the depths of its lows?
Neither
I judge it from how it feels as a whole. If I can listen to an album from start to finish and not feel like I desperately need to skip to a particular song then I know I've got a good 'un.
Which songs do you find to be filler
Not to sound like a git, but I do genuinely like a large percentage of the songs on that album.
...
Backdrifts
We Suck Young Blood
The Gloaming
I Will
A Punch Up at a Wedding
...
The album has fourteen 3-5 minute long songs on it
and is nearly an hour long. It's unnecessary in my opinion, and turns what could've been a great album into a sonic sprawl.
i love hail to the theif
ok computer
hail to the thief
kid a
in rainbows
amnesiac
the bends
pablo honey
me and my pal used to do our all time top 5 radiohead albums, just so we could exclude pablo honey. obviously, this was before in rainbows came out
HTTT is my second fave.
I'd say:
1. Kid A
2. Hail to the Thief
3. In Rainbows
4. OK Computer
5. Amnesiac
6. The Bends
I dont count PH.
Hail to the Thief...
has some killer songs, but also shitloads of filler.
i mean, the Gloaming has to be one of the worst songs they've ever written.
.
Kid A
Amnesiac
Hail To The Thief
In Rainbows
The Bends
Ok Computer
Pablo Honey
The Bends
Pablo Honey
OK Computer
The Borderline Pretentious One
The Really Quite Pretentious One
The Really Quite Pretentious Free One
The Laughably Pretentious One
:
1. Amnesiac
2. OK Computer
3. Kid A
4. In Rainbows
5. The Bends
6. Hail To The Thief
7. Pablo Honey
you've forgotten the bends
d'oh
Hahaha
which one is which?
Ha Ha!
Spot on Alex-in-Ciderland, I second your ranking of Radioheads albums.
for shame
I hope you kid.
.
1) Amnesiac
2) OK Computer
3) Hail to the Thief
4) Kid A
5) The Bends
6) Pablo Honey
7) In Rainbows
In Rainbows last?
I'm currently revisiting this and Videotape is actually leaping up my favourite Radiohead songs ever.
goes like this
1. Kid A
2. OK Computer
3. Amnesiac
4. In Rainbows
5. The Bends
6. Hail to the Thief
7. Pablo Honey
in rainbows below Pablo?! ridiculous
1. OK Computer
2. Kid A
3. In Rainbows
4. The Bends
5. Amnesiac
6. Hail To The Thief
7. Pablo
hmm
kid a
in rainbows
amnesiac
hail to the thief
ok computer
the bends
pablo honey
unashamedly a latter-period lover. it's tough to choose between amnesiac's misfires and HTTT's slightly filler moments. amnesiac's highs are better though.
I might
switch Amnesiac with Hail to the Thief. But you've more or less got the jist of my preference.
high five!!
no shame needed, my list is exactly the same.
Or...
Joint first - all the other ones
Seventh - Pablo Honey.
Done, and done.
YES.
Mine is almost identical, however:
First: everything else
Sixth: Hail To The Thief
Seventh: Pablo Honey.
I'm glad to see such hatred for Pablo Honey...
My two penneth:
1) Kid A
2) In Rainbows
3) The Bends
4) OK Computer
5) Hail To The Thief
6) Amnesiac
7) Pablo Honey
numbers 4,5 and 6 are all in close proximity
1)Kid A
2)OK Computer
3)In Rainbows
4)HTTF
5)Amnesiac
6)The Bends
7)Pablo Honey
>
1//OK Computer
2//Kid A
3//In Rainbows
4//Amnesiac
5//The bends
6//Hail to the thief
7//Pablo Honey
A tough one but
1) Hail to the Thief
2) Amnesiac
3) Kid A
4) OK Computer
5) In Rainbows
6) The Bends
7) Pablo Honey
But realistically I like them all pretty much the same except for The Bends ( a few songs bring it down I feel) and Pablo Honey (just not that great really).
1. the bends (genius)
2. pablo honey (awful)
3. hail to the thief (even worse)
4. kid A (slightly worse than httt)
5. amnesiac (cack)
6. in rainbows (shit)
7. ok computer (bollocks)
Not 'OK' for me
Kid A
In Rainbows
OK Computer
Amnesiac
Hail to the Thief
The Bends
Pablo Honey
I love them all...but:
1. Hail to the thief
2. Kid A
3. The Bends
4. OK Computer
5. In Rainbows
6. Pablo Honey
7. Amnesiac
Depends...
Best Album in the sense of the disc as a whole and the songs? Then:
1) OK Computer
2) Kid A
3) In Rainbows
4) HTTT
5) The Bends
6) Pablo Honey
7) Amnesiac
But the last three don't really have much in it since they're all just collections of songs rather than proper albums.
If we're going by how good the best stuff on each is, then:
1) The Bends
2) OK Computer
3) Amnesiac
4) Pablo Honey
5) Kid A
6) In Rainbows
7) HTTT
wrong.
1) kid a
2) amnesiac
3) ok computer
4) httt
5) in rainbows
6) pablo honey
. .
. .
(last) the bends
anyone who likes the bends is an oasis fan. facts.
Do you practice being wrong in the mirror?
Good work :D
Ah.
If I were to do it on merit of albums straight through I would have:
1) OK Computer
2) Amnesiac
3) In Rainbows
4) Kid A
5) HTTT
6) The Bends
7) Pablo Honey
BUT if it was to be decided on the highs, the standout tracks, then:
1) OK Computer
2) The Bends
3) Kid A
4) Amnesiac
5) In Rainbows
6) Pablo Honey
7) HTTT
1. Hail To The Thief
2. OK Computer
3. Kid A
4. The Bends
5. Amnesiac
6. In Rainbows
7. Pablo Honey
This was done a couple of weeks back.
Oh well, here goes.
1) Ok Computer
2) The Bends
3) Kid A (close between these 2)
4) In Rainbows
5) Amnesiac
6) Hail To The Thief
7) Pablo Honey
The gaps signal a bigger distance between the quality of the albums.
..and yes Idioteque is awesome.
.
The Bends
Ok Computer
Kid A
In Rainbows
Hail To The Thief
Amnesiac
Pablo Honey
Am I the only one that
realises The Bends is better than OK Computer?
So many will disagree, but...
1) Amnesiac
2) Kid A (or In Rainbows disc 2)
3) Hail To The Thief
4) OK Computer
5) In Rainbows
6) The Bends
7) Pablo Honey
what about making next week the "radiohead-free week" at DiS?
?
Radiohead are, in my opinion, the greatest band ever
:(
Seconded.
i'm sorry, but i just don't see this
maybe it's because i'm not from the UK.
i mean, they're all right and everything. hell, they even made OK Computer, one of the defining rock albums of the 90s. but, as more time passes, they're more and more like "the U2 that it's cool to like".
they're great musicians (especially jonny, woah) with a social and political awareness, which is awesome. however, to even remotely hint that they're THE greatest, or justify the incredible amount of attention they're getting at this board, maybe you just have to be british... i dunno?
Did anyone not put Pablo Honey last?
pretty much release order
Hail to the Thief
Amnesiac
Kid A
OK Computer
In Rainbows (bastard odd one out)
The Bends
Pabvlo Honey
hmmmmmmmmm
1. Hail To The Thief
2. In Rainbows
3. Amnesiac
4. The Bends
5. Kid A
6. Ok Computer
7. Pablo Honey
Christ it's difficult - made me realise they're my faves
1. Kid A
2. OK Computer
3. The Bends
4. In Rainbows
5. Hail To The Thief
6. Amnesiac
7. Pablo Honey
But I genuinely love them all (except Pablo, which I don't hate)
im not really a radiohead fan
and i hate ranking bands albums in order.
but i'll join for the sake of balance here:
1. ok computer
2. pablo honey
3. amnesiac
4. kid a
5. the bends
i haven't heard the other two.
tricky
1. Kid A *****
2. OK Computer *****
3. In Rainbows ****
4. Amnesiac ****
5. The Bends ****
6. Hail to the Thief ***
7. Pablo Honey *
i'd also like to add the caveat, that although i've given Hail to the Thief 3 stars, it does have my all time favourite Radiohead song on it, 'There There'. It's just never sat well as a satisfying and cohesive album for me. I enjoy it when I hear it, but it doesn't live in the memory very well.
Hard but...
1.Kid A
2.Ok Computer
3.In Rainbows/Amnesiac (can't decide)
4.The Bends
5.Pablo Honey (srsly)
6.Hail to the Thief
i would say...
1. the bends
2. ok computer
3. in rainbows
4. hail to the thief
5. pablo honey
6. amnesiac
7. kid a
looking at these lists
maybe i need to return to kid a and give it another shot.
i just recall never really getting into it, and being quite disappointed at the time of release.
here it goes...
1. The Bends
2. Kid A
3. In Rainbows
4. OK Computer
5. Hail To The Thief
6. Amnesiac
7. Pablo Honey
The Iron Lung EP was also fantastic, It filled the void nicely between The Bends and OK Computer.
vaires quite a bi, at present
1.Hail to the thief
2.ok computer
3.in rainbows
4.the bends
5.Kid A
6.Amnesiac
7.Pablo Honey
terrible spelling there
"varies" and "bit"
i think
1. The bends
2. Amnesiac
3. Kid A
4. In Rainbows
5. HTTT
5. Ok Computer
6. Pablo Honey
hmmmm. tough one...
The Bends - stunning, powerful and refreshing at the high of BritPop
OK Computer
In Rainbows
Kid A
Amnesiac (leftovers, good leftovers, but still leftovers. Should have been b-sides and an EP)
Pablo Honey (honest, but naive)
Hail to the Thief (a vacuous collection of pomposity)
* The first four on my list are in a league of their own and often change depending on my mood.
Hail to the Thief
Kid A
OK Computer
The Bends
In Rainbows
Pablo Honey
Amnesiac
hard to say though all have different "qualities"!
..........
1.the bends
2.in rainbows
3.ok computer
4.kid a
5.amnesiac
6.hail to the thief
7.pablo honey
