as mine is about to expire.

I don't know much about apr and the like so someone recommend me one.

Also I was told some places give you free stuff if you get a credit card with them, I like free stuff.

Cheers

Don't get one.

They're evil.

I got my first one from the bank not long ago..

I didn't get any free stuff. And I haven't even used it yet.

What's best

depends on how you use it. Do you pay your balance off every month and are you going to need to transfer a balance just for starters.

I pay it off most months

it's clear at the moment so I wont be transfering anything

Probably don't need to worry too much about the APR then

since that's just the rate that you pay interest at (worked out as an annual rate). If you're usually clearing it, then your best bet would be to look for a cashback card - pays you back something like 1% of every pound you spend. Options look like Egg, "Capital One Bonus/Platinum Cashback", "Barclaycard Cashback", "Smile Classic", Norwich & Peterborough BS or Leeds BS.

Oh, just remembered

Make sure it gives you 42 days interest free on purchases so you're not paying interest before you've had your statement and had a chance to pay the bill.

look at moneysupermarket.com

and moneysavingexpert.com

fool.co.uk

Those sites are bollocks. The best deal = the person who paid them the most

interesting credit card anecdote for you here

i went to the bank when i was 18 just to get a normal visa. i was still in college and my income was maybe £90 a month - besides student loan and that. i made it very clear to them that i did not want a credit card because i would not trust myself with it, but they made me accept some deal with £1000 credit on my visa card and a mastercard with an additional £1000 on it.

it has come in quite handy over the years though, but what a stupid fucking bank.

capital one gave me a ten grand limit

when i had no real income... oops!

They only let me have £1100

But I'm in quite some trouble with that :S

Me and the wife

got one from Halifax last month. 0% for 12 months on balance transfers and purchases...

Don't they just send you a new card?

Barclaycard keep doing that to me. It's gone from normal to gold and now it's platinum. WOW!

The actually amount I can borrow up to hasn't increased, though.
