Yeah, I love that album.

I bought 'Power' but I don't really like it.

Check out Faraquet and the first Antelope release if you like Q and Not U, I reckons.

Power

Didn't like it at first, but it was loads better on repeat listening. For me though, Different Damage is the best.

Hmm. Well I should give that a try

But I wasn't sure after 'Power'.

power's

the weakest of the 3 for me, the earlier 2 are much better.
One of thems in Georgie james now, pretty different, but goo from what I've heard.

it was before power

and doesnt sound much like it at all

I realise that.

What I said was I wasn't sure "after Power", meaning after I heard Power, given they'd lost the member before 'Different Damage', hadn't they? I assumed the member going was why they lost some of the edge.

Power suffers

for opening with the 'poppiest' song they ever wrote.

I think they should be made to retroactively change their name

because I keep getting them confused with q without u

your efforts thus far

have been noted and disgarded.........

I was gonna reply using

the fake profilename "Tam-Q" but sadly it sent my password to a nonexistant email address, would've been funny though

funny

if a bit sad :)

i always thought

that name was a well bad rip off of q and not u. i mean its basically the same name, its like me saying im gonna start a band and well be called you2 or linking park

Power is shite

half of it sounds like ridiculous childrens theme tunes

No Kill No Beep Beep and Different Damage are awesome!

there is so much good stuff on Dischord

if you haven't already, check out:

Faraquet, The Evens, The Make-Up, Fugazi, Medications, Nation of Ulysses, Regulator Watts, Hoover, Rites of Spring, Embrace, Shudder to Think, Jawbox, Smart Went Crazy and Minor Threat

you're joking!

Power is an amazing album. it was my least favourite of the three before, but it's the most original album of the 3, completely eschewing post-hardcore to go for broke on the final album, it sounds like a party!

"it sounds like a party!"

A phrase guaranteed to put a sick in my mouth.

Wonderful People

is a cracking tune on Power. Love it

I'm lucky

I borrowed the 20 years of Dischord comp today and had a great listen on headphones. Already had Power by Q and Not U by sounds like I'm going to have to check out their earlier stuff... a lot of post-hardcore and post-punk actually.... as much as I can!

i quite like Power

No Kill no Beep Beep is far better though

Anyone a fan of Ris Paul Ric?

Christopher Paul Richards' solo project? I really loved his debut album.

not heard that

what does it sound like?

it sounds

great!

like prince fronting a drummerless power era QANU, i suppose

Like...

Q And Not U's melody but really lo-fi, raw and tender. I love it. Quite blissful.

it sounds like he was working on a new q album

and everyone fucked off after he laid down his tracks. so he just put some atmospheric sounds in the background

except in a good way

now buy

Different Damage

I would

...but I am yet to actually see this in a CD shop. Should I do so I will purchase it. I bought No Kill when it appeared on the 66 list the other year as sounded like something I would like... and I did... a lot.

does anyone like georgie james?

they're really cool, the Drummer John Davis' solo project? they were on conan o'brien the other week

I do

Yea I saw them play glasgow last month or something. I really like the album

no kill no beep beep

is actually, literally amazing.

yep.

With all seriousness

I think Q and not U are my favourite dischord band. Seriously, in terms of the sheer quality of everything they ever put out, they are pretty much unbeatable.

I agree
