Awesome album

My favourite, despite the majority's dislike of it. I reckon this is what the band want to sound like, but it's too pop for their punk following. It's the only album Conley stops singing like he's trying to sound emo (the ones before) or punk (the two after).

Whatever, 'Anywhere With You', 'What Went Wrong' and 'Driving In The Dark' are particularly brilliant. More for fans of power pop than punk, though, I suppose.

my relationship with an s.t.d...

can't slow down - i liked them. scrappy as fuck but i was still fond of it, especially for how young they were.

through being cool - genius!! one of my favourite albums of that era. fell in love.

stay what you are - at the time i didn't like it coz it was too pop... but after a while i realised how good the songs were and my love grew to a new level.

in reverie - tried to get into it but couldn't. this is where my love of saves the day came into question.

sound the alarm - piece of shit - felt like i'd been cheated on. now have no interest and can only look back to the good old days

this is just my thoughts, don't want to get involved in any difference of opinion arguments...

i have to disagree with you concerning sound the alarm.

i thought that it was, in fact, a return to form after inreverie, which for me is the weakest saves the day album.

to an extent

this was a good album.
sound the alarm was a mistake!

In Reverie is great

The album that really got me into Saves The Day. I'd say that Sounds The Alarm is probably my favourite album now though. However, 'Where Are You?' and 'Driving In The Dark' are easily two of their best songs.

I liked In Reverie

But I wasn't interested in Sound The Alarm after it, so I guess I didn't like it that much...I love Chris's voice how it is on Can't Slow Down/Through Being Cool/Stay What You Are, and In Reverie sounded like he was singing far more from his belly than from his throat. Which is probably good for him in terms of vocal health, but for me it made him sound like plenty of other singers and I was far less interested.

But Anywhere With You/In Reverie/What Went Wrong/Driving In The Dark are all great. I'm going to go listen to it now!

I bought Can't Slow Down

when I was about 18 and loved it in spite of the fact that Lifetime should have sued them for massive copyright infringement!

Through Being Cool was pretty great, certainly sountracked a large part of my first year at university.

When I first bought Stay What You Are (from te Rock Box stall at Reading 2001) I played it in my tent and really wasn't sure about it at all. However, over time I came to realise just how great it is, it's the only STD (ha!) album I listen to now.

Never heard any of the others.

In Reverie is amazing!!

the song writing is about 1000 times better on it than all their older albums

It's good

It's very pop, almost Beatlesque. I liked it alot but proabaly enjoyed Stay What you Are the most. Sound The Alarm is pretty poor, sounds like the pop thing didn't work out so they were trying to sound more punk again. I think In Reverie was there first and last album for a major label, read in to that what youy will. I still have a soft spot for Saves The Day.

absolutely love this album

i cant help but sing along whenever i play it, where are you!¬---
