It's quite a long time ago now..
..I once thought about purchasing The Downward Spiral, a friend recommended it and it's not usually his kind of music by his own admission, but he still loved it.
It has March Of The Pigs on that album, right? I liked that song, I haven't heard it for years though.

it also has Mr Self Destruct, Piggy, Heresy, Closer, Ruiner, The Becoming, I do Not Want This, Big Man With A Gun, A Warm Place, Eraser, Reptile, The Downward Spiral and Hurt.
It's a masterpiece; over the course 10 years i've played it to death and still think it's one of the best albums i own.

i was initially a bit underwhelmed but there are some really great songs on that album and it's growing to be one of my faves.
I tried so hard to like it
but it just never sat well. I found it a bit mediocre

ghosts is very very good
There is a certain amount of bedroom noodling going on, but in the main it's better than both 'With-a Teeth-A!' and Year Zero.
I'm sure with time it'll move up...
but I've only heard Ghosts I twice at the moment.
I do like all the wallpapers though...

err... I've got Pretty Hate Machine and Things Fall Apart on my comp but still haven't listened to them properly. Only heard 1 track from Year Zero, it was ok.
With Teeth is ace, I don't get why people don't like it.
I like it
just not as much as most of their other stuff, The Hand That Feeds is a tune! I think it's not as well liked because some of it is quite poppy, far less aggressive, for example, than The Downward Spiral
i just found it
very diluted, simple and - as said above - mediocre.
And the lyrics were worse than ever. I was just very disappointed
With Teeth suffers...
...simply because up against what came before it just looks limp. It's a damn fine record all on its own, but compared to Reznor's earlier stuff it feels meh.

you can say something isn't liked because of previous efforts.
Were that the case, people would say "it's still good, but not a patch on the older stuff". I think it's nothing more than mediocre and a largely forgettable album, regardless of previous releases
I quite enjoy songs like
Right Where It Belongs though, there's a lot to be said for that album I think.

Is a great album but really cant get into The Fragile.
