I agree
Anyone know where I can download non-crappy rips of it?
FF6, 7 and Chrono Trigger in particular.
ff7 has the best
i tried finding music from this a while back but to no avail :(
i have it all
look on soulseek:
the best songs are the cosmo canyon theme, aeris theme and one winged angel, which is the last boss one,.
you can also get an orchestrated version of all of it.
i remember seeing in a game shop recently they even have them on cd.
...
No you can't.
The FF7 soundtrack was released on CD, but it was just a straight port of the version you hear on the game, i.e. The music comes from the playstation's sound hardware.
You can find orchestrated versions of Aeris' theme, Sephiroth's theme and the World Map music floating about, since those were released as bonus tracks on some other CD.
There's also a compilation of orchestrated Final Fantasy music called Friends, and another one called 'More Friends'.
And probably shit loads of other crap that I can't be bothered to write right now.
believe!
i have seen the cds for loads of games in one shop. its in shipley, bradford
seriously they have all this jap stuff, including game soundtracks, like mgs, FF and others
There are some shit MIDI versions flying around
but its just some guy aping them on his keyboard, its not the same. :(
Also, FF6 has the best. But yeah. Actually FF7 is beautiful too. I always wanted a sort of hip-hop project where I sampled loads of computer game music and made beats out of it, then got people to rap over it.
Tetris
best ever game music
Red Alert - Hell March
Also NHL2k7 has music entirely made up from the Sub Pop roster.

Squaresoft
- uh, sorry, Squarenix, or whatever it is now - games are great for all the weird cover/orchestration versions they inevitabley generate. There's the Black Mages stuff of course; but I've also got an album full of modern jazz-ish interpretations of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. The final boss theme becomes half riffed up powermetal, then goes into lounge-lizard jazz for part two. Remember, when you found out the last boss was a space-duck? That was great for everyone.
Then there's the celtic interpretations of the old FF themes. And all the solo piano albums.
My personal favourite videogame musicy things: Amon Tobin's soundtrack to Spinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and - maybe on of the most gorgeous, sad pieces of music I've ever heard - the title theme to FF X-2 (no, it's not like the J-pop of the rest of the game). Oh, and most of Rob Hubbard's old C64 stuff. He's released albums since, I think!
...
That Amon Tobin thing was genius - considering that before I played Splinter Cell, I was a big fan of playing Metal Gear solid with a slinky double-bass Tobin track going on in the background. Perfect sneaking music.
The amazing thing
is that you can hear how he's designed it with the game in mind; he made three arrangements of each track that were designed to come in as the action in the game picked up. So.. when you were seen, the second 'layer' would kick in. Then for, like, set pieces and that, you'd have this third layer where it all goes mental. He then just put these three types one after another for the soundtrack CD. What a dude.
...
Word. I usually find that annoying (see Devil May Cry's 'soundtrack'), but Amon Tobin is a different league.
Hahaha
Devil May Cry 4. Soundtrack. Hahahahaaaaa. Honestly. Nothing in my life has ever offended me quite so much as when the screamo bit comes in.
'Your time has come, and so have I...' Oh how I laughed.

ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRT [cue insane late-90s techno]
Blur - Song 2
Fifa.
That was when Fifa was a good game.
I think that version also had
some horrific ska-punk on it too!
FIFA 98 road to world cup yes?
I GET KNOCKED DOWN
BUT I GET UP AGAIN
YOU'RE NEVER GONNA KEEP ME DOWN
To add to that, Golden Sun / Ocarina of Time have stunning music.
<3
yes yes
Can I be overtly modern..
And say that the music for Splinter Cell (think it was Chaos Theory) that was done by Amon Tobin is the shit. And you can buy the album and everything!
But I love Amon Tobin so perhaps I'm overtly biased.
I've just noticed
that someone else already mentioned this. So its not just me. Yippee!
yes it was 98
also did anyone ever play music2000 on ps1?
i was laying down some phat beats i was
Music
was the shit. I loved playing that. Only thing is every single time I did something it ended up sounding like Tricky. Even when I tried to do something a little more upbeat it still ended up like Tricky. I once thought I'll try making some drum n bass. Oh no, it sounds like Tricky. Repeat ad infinitum.
THIGH FIVE
Carmageddon 1 featured
music from Fear Factory's 'Demanufacture' \m/ always good to drive to whilst running over cows/pedestrians. The second game had about 4 Iron Maiden songs and some stupidly fast breakcore-guitar noise.
Halo 3 and Gears of War theme music is brilliant.
I'm fairly into
the Mass Effect soundtrack at the moment too. All Vangelisy synths and shit. Very lovely in places.
guild wars
had good music. and diablo 2.
posted these a while back
