I honestly think this record is pretty underrated. It came out in 2001, and I remember Tom J. getting a lot of criticism for taking a step back to the familiar territory of drill n bass (after releasing the wicked jazz hybrid Music Is Rotted One Note). I just listened to Go Plastic for the first time in...years probably, and to my (slight) surprise, it sounds really good. A lot of the hyperkinetic Warpesque stuff tend to date rather poorly, but I think Go Plastic holds up very well as one of the great drill n bass records (along with Tom's awesome earlier work, RDJ Album etc.).
What do you reckon?

Total agreement
I think Go Plastic is easily one of his finest albums, maybe even THE best. V consistent and it has some quality tunes on it. 'Go Spastic', 'I wish I could talk' and 'Plainstow Flexout' are amazing. This and the 'Richard D James' album opened my eyes to electronic music when I was a teenager
why
is there no aphex twin on my ipod? where is my drukqs?
:'(
i love that album, it was the first quarepusher album i got
it's probably his best drilly album, though i still reckon music is rotted is more interesting. it's a great album though, i much prefer it to most aphex stuff, except Drukqs which i think is perfect
^
almost all of this
whaat would you change?
Dug out
Go Plastic for the first time in years yesterday, still sounds great, although Hard Normal Daddy is the one for me..
I honestly think
that this album is a bit poo for Squarepusher (although track six is ace)
hmmm i'm not such a big fan of that track, it's a bit too straight drum'n'bass
I only got this
a few months ago, but i'm pretty sure it's my favourite Squarepusher album.
red hot car=bib bab
hard normal daddy...
or hello everything for me.
hello everything has no flow
well i don't think it does. i like bits of it, but it fealt like he was going for a more comercial version of the album before that, whatever that was called
*ultravisiter
Hello Everything sounds nothing like Ultravisitor
But I agree that it has no flow. HE has grown on me since it's release though, but it could be better with a bit more work and a removal of 'vacuum garden'.
they are both varied,
have electro dance tunes, slap bass numbers, vacuum bits and classical guitaresque tunes. which is what i meant, obviously, ultravisitor is more live and organic feeling, but they seem quite similar to me
Big Loada
And Feed me Weird Things.
Everything else is cacky cack (imo).
People forget how technically ahead Go Plastic actually is.
Go Plastic is a work of art, almost an exercise in sonic audio innovation.
It's alot easier to create some of those sounds and hyperedited drums/breaks these days with the novel technologies available from software company's but Go Plastic (along with alot of his works) pioneered the glitch/breakcore/drillnbass/idm sound before the tools where available to make it, and the early works of Squarepusher i'm sure got the audio tech labs scientists scratching their heads.
On this alone, it is one of the best releases ever. plus i think it's generally got some awesome music on.
Ulravisitor's his best album, but I probably like Hard Normal Daddy the most.
