Forgetting to listen to a bought CD

I realise I bought McCluskyism about a month ago and haven't gone near it, despite having every intention to listen to it. Am I the only person alive that does this (and therefore certifiable) or is this normal behaviour after all?

(P.S. since writing this I can add another 5 CDs to the unlistened list...)

Hmmm no.

Most of the times when I buy a cd (which is kind of rare) I immediately listen to it when I'm home =]

I did this with the first Guillemots record

Dont think i missed much though.

no

during a ripping to iTunes session, I found 2 CD's that were still in their sellophane.

I felt ashamed.

The only time I do it

is if I've bought a tonne of them online and just forget about one.

i do this...

oft too regularly though; even more so the 'never doing a full listen of the album'...

it's a shameful waste of money on my part, but i have only so much time. and so much music already loved.

if you aren't already doing so then

listen to mcluskyism right now, they were without a doubt the best band to ever come from these shores, sod the other 5 CDs they will be but wallpaper in comparison

the best band ever to come from these shores?

do both you and they originate from a small island of mad people
or
has cardiff been flooded?

if it has, do let me know cos I oughta ring my mum

^ this, not true

but mclusky were great.
I bought Mylo's album and didnt listen to it for 6 months. and had iggy pops greatest hits bought for me which i intend on not listenign to.

only when i've bought a bulk load of records

i get home, stick them in my record box, and sometimes forget i have them. i found 2 7"s when i was flicking through recently that i cant even remember buying... it's not like i shop drunk either.

ebay

=shopping drunk

.

i can't even buy two cds without neglecting one.
i have to listen to it immediately, so when i order something off the internet and it comes three weeks after i was interested, i won't be inclined to give it a good listen either, but for most albums i'll unwrap and listen immediately.

No, I do all the time.

I'm not the type who listens to music constantly. And my CD player has recently gone kaput, so...

I do it all the time too

But you know how it is

you have amental checklist of oooooh about 1000 albums that you want to be yours

one day, you are feeling flush
or in a sale
or drunk on ebay
or you broke into a big record shops and disabled the cameras and you have a shopping trolley, and a big splif

anyway, whatever

you come home with a bunch of CDs

some go on the shelves unplayed

though
call me anal
I tend to leave new unplayed ones sticking out a bit, so I can spot them when I fancy something new

Yeah, i did this recently

rather alot. I went on a spending spree and they all arrived at once.

Also, i bought the 3rd Cooper Temple Clause album and Jai Alai Savant as promos, so when flicking through the CD racks tend not to notice the thin cardboard cases. I'd forgotten all about them until about a week ago.

OOOOHHH SPOOOKY!

The thread immediately underneath this one on the left is (as of now) 'Architecture in Helsinki' In Case We Die.

I've just realised that this album I have bought on CD and never listened to.

OOOOOH.

You need to remedy that

, spooks

I bought that

album the day it came out and only listened to it last month. Annoying a i have missed out on a great album

Can - Tago Mago

It wouldn't load up on my laptop for some reason, so couldn't transfer it to my iPod and was stuck on to the ned of my mental to do list.

Therefore rediscovered it nine months later. It's good.

*end

...wonder why glasgow chavs were on my mind?

I bought the Rolo Tomassi EP a while ago

And I have no idea where I've put it... can't find it for the life of me. I hadn't even unwrapped it yet. Does that count?

I never have but..

..I currently have 15 albums on order, 5 form a local record shop and 10 off Amazon, so basically it's pretty likely to happen in the near future.

^ you

been working or something absurd like that?

(forewarning: it's Mars Volta day and i'm pretty excitable)

Yes working as strange a concept as it is.

I knew you would be excited today, please tell me about it tomorrow although I'm sure you would have anyway whether I asked or not.

:):):):)

no work for me, as per. Although my computer is being moved tomorrow which means the screen will be visible to all...it could be the end of DiS procrastination

Really.

I'm sad (about you not posting form tomorrow). :(

it all depends

upon where i end up.

Time will tell....

Where's SHANDYHOLMES today.

(Random post centric)

*?

Whoopsy

Queuing for The Mars Volta's

Manchester show 2 days early to secure a spot at the barrier?

That would be hardcore fanboy behaviour.

And why are you not queuing yet?

shamefully

i'll be heading straight to the venue from work. It's about a 15 minute walk from here, so after eating somewhere i should be at the Academy by 5. If i don't get my barrier spot in front of Omar and Marcel there'll be hell to pay

i don't really forget...

but i do tend to buy stuff in sprees, mainly online with ebay or play.com so always have too much to listen to in one sitting and the "to listen" pile just keeps getting bigger and bigger, especially if there's a really great album that i just can't stop playing...

and it's demos that suffer the most from this delayed listening, that's a whole different pile there!

i do this all the time, and am ashamed.

i try to only buy 1 cd at a time now (hard!) so it always has my full attention

I do this

I've got 36 CDs that I've bought and not yet listened to, going back to last summer. Slowing working my way through them, but as quickly as I do, I just get new ones.

Thanks guys

I now feel that despite clearly wasting my money and managing my leisure time appallingly, I am not alone.

*sob*

I'm quite ashamed to say

that I still haven't got round to listening to Daydream Nation. I feel that I need to get round to this soon.
