The new Weezer album will be released in June, according to Rivers Cuomo’s latest post on the Weezer website.
The post, which can be found here, says that the band only have song left to mix before mastering commences and that it “should be all done very soon”.
The as-yet-untitled album is the band’s sixth and has been described as “meaty, crunchy and melodic”. Like these?
Here’s the message in its slightly condescending entirety:
Hey Weezer punks,
We have one song left to mix and then it’s on to mastering. We should be all done very soon. Then we chill for a minute.
The album will be out in June so with any luck you will hear a new Weezer song on the radio soon. I think I know which song is the first single but I’m not sure so I can’t tell you. I’ll give you some hints, though. It’s one word, starts with a T, ends with an R and contains twelve letters. You should be able to figure it out because you’re smart li’l Weezer fans.
The album is meaty, crunchy and melodic like a good Weezer album should be.

Green is alright, it wasn't up to the standard set by Blue/Pinkerton, but, then again nothing ever could be.
Maladroit is a great album, it's Rivers releasing his inner demons through the medium of RAWK.
Fair enough with regard to Make Believe though, I make no attempt to defend the indefensible.

was AWESOME. Half an hour of brilliant power-pop, almost up there with the first two.
Maladroit - some great moments, but patchy. Nice contrast with Green, much darker and dirtier and loads of great guitars.
I'm not going to attempt to defend Make Beleive though. No way.

people saying "its nothing compared to Pinkerton" are cockterrorists of the highest order. Of course Pinkerton is genius. Essentially what you are saying is "Statistically the chances of them bettering their best album, which is better than most peoples best albums, are very low indeed". I'm not saying it's ok to release subpar records but Pinkerton captured a moment in time that is impossible to recreate.
Green = shockingly underappreciated. It's just fucking fun.
Maladroit = as close in sound to Pinkerton as I think they'll ever get again, obviously not as good but still has some great moments. December is beautiful.
Make Believe = I really tried but it's just too shiny and wet. Haunt You Everyday and The Damage In Your Heart are fantastic songs that ALMOST make the album worthwhile but then...y'know...My Best Friend? Fuck me icicles, that was a bad song.
I'm a bit concerned that This Is The Way, from Alone, is a suggestion of the direction they're going in on the next album. Please say it ain't so.
