if there are any promoters out there (I'm sure there are a few) could you give me an idea of how much you'd offer, say, semifinalists to headline a show?

I'm worried I'll over/under-estimate and they'll never reply.

Cheers, x.

Capacity

Depends on capacity and how much you're planning on charging for tickets.

^^^^^^as above

Plus if its part of a tour or a one off show can make a difference.

One booker quoted me £3000 for a band the other day, that's released one album on a an indie label and has had some mild success - lets just say I declined.

you shouldn't have to offer anything.

Speak to the band on Myspace first. Work it into the general conversation that you'd like to put them on. They'll either tell you what their expenses/fee would be, or tell you to contact the agent. Normally the agent would tell you what it might cost. I might be wrong but i've never heard of offering a band a certain fee before. I'd expect a band like Semifinalists to cost £200-£300 perhaps, but i've just plucked that figure from thin air really. Most bands just want to play.

Booking agents

I could be wrong but when you're approaching a band via an agent they generally expect you to make the first move cashwise

/\

offer what you can afford. to be honest most bands worth their salt will prefer to play a good night with good supports and a good fun crowd than get £1000 play to 12 bells and have a shit time.

I always contact the band as well as the agent if at all possible, be polite, Several times i have undercut what an agent wanted by speaking to the band. Not that i dislike agents, some are wonderuflly lovely. and i dont mind paying a little extra for them/the band if i can.

I Agree semifinalists, while brilliant should be about £300 max for a one off show, esp. if its outside london where the crowd would be less than garunteed (spelling).

yeah

Thats pretty much what I thought so I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Every band I've ever tried to book has asked me to make an offer though. Without a lot of experience in this kind of thing it's really difficult to as you are essentail estimating a bands worth.

x good singles + y ace album divided by fanbase of roughly z = £££
