Is this possible? I would just want the CDs on their own, no cases or artwork, and with, preferably a black and white image label or at least just text on them.
I've seen a few places that offer nice coloured labels but the CDs appear to be green CDRs which would mean I'm just paying someone for the convenience of me not having to run a load of CDRs through my lightscribe drive (which would currently cost me about 20p a disc).

Im having the same bother
Only with packaging. 500 digipaks for an unsigned band is quite alot to have to fork out for. We are just gonna do our cdrs ourself and print on white top cds. They came out great for our first cd.
make your own packaging
Totally worth it if you have the time.
digipacks
are great, but SO fucking expensive!
I like the card wallet thing that Good Nature is done with.
digipaks....
Yeah digipaks are cool, as long as you don't get any store returns! Otherwise you'll end up with hundreds of dog eared sleeves that can't be used. Firm sale on digipaks all the way.
This is a pain
The point where it gets cheaper to get replicated CDs is just at 500 it seems.
We got 500 CDRs which were *pretty* silver, and had a reasonable onbody black and white print from here: http://www.rivierapublishing.co.uk/ was some years back though.
This time we opted for a 1000 CDs with a colour print, (not got the link, but can dig it out) because the cost difference wasn't that great and the end result was nicer, but this was approached as a lossmaking venture from the start. The unit cost was something like 29p I think
*1000 replicated CDs
Cheers
:-)
wot quotes do you have so far
hmm, wouldn't do cdrs if you're doing 500. 500 is usually the minimum for replication (proper cds, like) rather than duplication, so without artwork this should be pretty cheap* anywhere, i would've though.
* relative to the cost of cdr duplication
I haven't had any quotes
I think I looked at some places a few months back and it seemed more than 20p a disc and as nothing else was ready I just left it at that.
I was pretty sure SFHUK weren't as cheap as 20p but their site seems to mysteriously not be functioning right now.
So it's 'replication' I need to search for? Part of the issue was that when I searched around I couldn't see which would be silver and which would be just CDRs with fancy labels on. And annoyingly so many places don't have an auto-quoting thing on their website, which is more than a little irritating.
yeah
you'll be wanting glass mastering and that sort of schizzle, i would've thought.
hi theo
Fermata (www.fermata.cz) were the cheapest company I found when looking to duplicate the Sailplanes album, and the result was excellent.
500 glass mastered cds with colour printing on the cd and colour 12-page booklet came to just over £400. A great proportion of this was for the booklet, so it might be worth getting a quote from them.
Okay, cheers for that. :-)
i'll vouch for that
I have that cd and it's top notch.
SFHUK
Have gone bust.
