This should be on every psychiatrist's questionnaire! I suspect your ranking will reveal particular aspects of your personality (and musical preference, naturally):
- Sleater-Kinney/Call The Doctor/Dig Me Out
- The Hot Rock/All Hands On The Bad One/One Beat
- The Woods

How is 'The Woods' a 'bundle'?
Eh?
It's the "rawk" ...uhm, bundle
but I still don't see how this explains my excessive masterbation, Dr. hansjoakim.

They only really got good on Dig Me Out.

The Woods is terrible bar one song (Jumpers).
i don't really know what to make of the woods myself
almost everywhere you read rave reviews of it, but it's definitely the S-K record i listen to the least. i don't know what it is about it that don't grab my attention...my the jamminess of it all, or the raw production, i don't know. it's got some great tracks, but it's got a more bloated, jammy AOR feel than any of their other records. myself, i'm a 1,2,3 kind of person.
2,1,3,
I think they're best when they're at their most meodic, not that they don't so the raw stuff amazingly, I think they have an amazing way with a melody that most bands can't een come close to.
My faves are definitely
One Beat, All Hands On The Bad One, and Dig Me Out. I think that its perfectly acceptable that bands don't want to keep on ploughing the same furrow, but I think they were at their best producing really tight, harmony-laden pop songs.
I felt that doing a bad Led Zep impression didn't suit them, and the live show when they toured that album was tedious beyond belief until the encore.
I think the woods is one of their strongest
maybe it didn't quite play to their strongest suit, with nothing quite as brilliant as 'Quarter to 3' or 'One Beat' on there but it had some great songs on there like 'the fox', 'modern girl', 'whats mine is yours' although it could do with cutting a good few minutes off 'Let's call it love' I can't see how you could call it terrible.
I find some of the early stuff a bit tuneless, but well, I guess each to their own.
nope
and burn piano island burn is great except for USA nails

I think. One Beat is probably my favourite, but Call The Doctor & Dig Me Out bundled together probably beat it.
I haven't listened to The Woods more than a few times... it's "ok", but I suppose I just haven't persevered.
That said, I should maybe point out
that I haven't actually got The Hot Rock or All Hands On The Bad One. They're on my frighteningly long to-get list, but I'm kinda skint...

Although my initial reaction would be to listen to Dig Me Out then The Hot Rock. Maybe the albums should be ranked individually as there's a great difference between the albums in section 2.
No-ones gone for 3 first?
I think The Woods is their best album as a whole. One beat was average, Dig me out was great, all hands & hot rock were both pretty awesome.

It's The Woods first for me too
Listening to
The Woods the most since it's been released. Dig Me Out and The Hot Rock are pipping it in the long run for me because they were the 1st two SK albums that I listened to when they were released. With SK you often stick with what you first heard.
I've been listening to One Beat a lot lately........
I'm not toally sure whether or not it's my favourite (although it's certainly up there), but, it's got my two favourite S-K songs on it.
Ha! What would they think of these guys?!!!

Wait a minute...this isn't the queercore thread!
Apologies.

I just love The Woods too much. It was the first I heard of SK though.
