I seen them last night after a long, hot painful wait!hard-fi supported they only done a small set, but they were pretty good considering they had no effects.Jimmy Eat world were ok, but were on for too long and i got bored, and taking back sunday were boring.
Green Day were fucking awesome! i cried..... and couldnt see fuck all, but the screens.I got a tall dude to take pictures for me. And evryone was moshing, including me.My mate had to be dragged out though, she was screaming her head off and got a bottle chucked at her head and well, was slightly concussed. they brought kids up on the stage during 'knowledge' as usual, and Billie gave away another guitar and pleasured himself in front of 65,000 people. YAY!.
definitely the best gig EVER.

Anyone else see them?

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I don't think you understand just how much I dislike Green Day.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

yeah, sorry green day suck.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

is it your first gig?

Re: Green Day ROCK!

You *saw them last night eh?

Re: Green Day ROCK!

that sounded just like my mum!

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I was at Milton Keynes also. Had anoher free ticket so I went along. Greenday were ok, I thought Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday weres a pile of wank. The gig made me realise my age. All these 14 year olds and their rubber bands. Nostalgia...anyway it was ridiculous that they didn't have a tent to shade in. I am so sunburnt :0(

Re: Green Day ROCK!

were*
*another
can't spell for shit.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Seriously don't you get bored that Green Day haven't changed their set in years (excluding the play throughs of the new album). I mean they always bring some people on stage to form a band and then straight after that launch into Basketcase and then play through their greatest hits catalogue and successfully ignore Smoothed Out Slappy... (I've forgot it's full title). Anyway when I saw them at Wembley however many years ago it was I enjoyed it, sure, I liked them then, but last year at Reading it was just like a circus that had been done before. I guess if you've never seen them before the shows still might be enjoyable.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I never bothered watching them before. They were ok, nothing special, although Billie whatsit face is very easy on the eye. Throughout most of the gig I was avoiding the kids, looking for more beer and stuffing my face with horrible veggie burgers. Good day all in all.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

greenday, v98 and my first festival...my favourite gig memory:0)

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Yeah that's a fair comment.

I've still never seen them, and am very much looking forward to seeing them at T in the Park.

I never really got green day when I was at school. but I love them now. It's like reliving someone else's (better) high school days.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I loved them back in the day. Then again I was a Courtney Love/Kurt Cobain worshipper. Oh, to be 15 again...NEVER NEVER NEVER!!Thank fuck.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

you jammy bitch! i was DYING to go to that gig but all my friends hate greenday so i couldn't go :'(

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I saw them last night at MK and it was really good. Another polished performance and fun show. I've seen them 6 times now and, although I understand what people say about the set, I never get bored. Hell, even about 2/3's through, I caught myself standing there, feeling on top of the world for a minute.

Had to run the 2 miles from the venue to the station, just getting the last train back into the old smoke. My mate went spaz and yelled "I'm Hiley Gabri Salassi" and burnt it off down the motorway - he smokes 20 a day when on the piss! It was great they played "Homecoming" in the encore - not heard that live before.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I was stuck in bastard traffic for two hours on the way there.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

No way, thats way harsh, did you get there ok though? The supports werent really worth watching to be honest.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I used to worship Green Day from when I was 13-16ish, saw them at Wembley in (I think) 2002 - was a good show but as far as I can tell the shows now are identical to the shows then except they play more new stuff. Not worth repeat views I'd say, though they're always a good festival band, a good laugh.

Plus, sometimes it's nice to wallow in nostalgia.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

no, agree on that the support bands wernt that good, i was sitting down filling up paper cups with water and lobbing them.
Yes it was my first proper gig and i'd do it again.18th, mcfly were in the moshpit, my friend saw them, and the bunny that came on at the beginning was billie joe.
the wait was pish though, and i chucked up at the end. i also walked into a post on the walk up. that was silly of me.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Do you in Milton Keynes by any chance?

Re: Green Day ROCK!

i don't recall them playing homecoming.maybe it's cus i was too lost and scared to listen when they did....

Re: Green Day ROCK!

haha loser greenday sux

taking back sunday and jimmy eat world kicks their ass

Re: Green Day ROCK!

no way. TBS suck

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I think Godspeed you! should have supported.

If anyone are interested they are an emo/pop punk band very similar to Greenday and Jimmy eat world. Check then out!

Re: Green Day ROCK!

when i saw green day at t in the park i thought they were entertaining, like some one said, a good festival band, and if you havent seen them before then obviously your not bothered if they play the same old set, i think people would be more annoyed if they didnt play all their greatest hits.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

No TBS don't suck, and Jimmy Eat World are fucking brilliant because they actually have a point in life. I went to see Greenday a while ago, and you know what? I got BORED. At least TBS and JEW are trying new things with every album instead of sticking to the same format.

I win.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

i like green day....and i like basketcase......although i always keep forgetting its a green day song and keep thinking its japanese....... well....the reason why im not listening to hardcore RnB and garage and pop all the time is because my friends brother's band played it(hes japanese) when i was 11.........basketcase with a japanese accent sticks in ur memory forever.......

*sigh* oh the nostalgia

Re: Green Day ROCK!

This thread dissapoints me, I actually though Wiggy lived in Timbuktu.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

The guy in the bunny suit at the beginning isnt Bille Joe, its one of their roadies.

The set might be the same for a couple of gigs in a row whenever they tour but
a) It isnt always EXACTLY the same
b) You cannot argue with the pure gold that is their music, so its all good.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I think all three bands on that bill pretty much suck nowadays, although JEW and GD have had the 'odd' good track here n there.

The MK bowl is such a pants venue IMHO, all hilly like and full of warm beer sellers and portaloos.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Green day are fucking terrible. I love it whenever they are accused of "selling out," to which they hastily recite some stupid metaphor like: "on a small label, we were only wearing sandals. Wouldn't you prefer to wear shoes?"

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I think you are fucking terrible......sort it out!

Re: Green Day ROCK!

When I see Green Day I can't help but smile, remembering someone who was just as obsessed with them boast to the guy in the Burger Shop about how she'd slept with the singer!
TOO funny!!!
INFINATE SADNESS!!!

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I thought TBS were alright, at least they put some effort into playing, although, with the risk of sounding like my parents, their songs did all sound pretty similar. I was really looking forward to Jimmy Eat World but thought they were pretty rubbish, they were just no competiton for Green Day, plus the lead singer looks far too similar to Tim Rice-Oxley of Keane for comfort....
As for Green Day, I've been waiting to see them since I was 14 (a long long time ago) and I thought they were absolutely awesome! The songs off American Idiot sound amazing live and hearing stuff from Dookie and Insomniac alongside them shows how damn great Green Day have been for a long time, I couldn't stop grinning afterwards! What wasn't so great was not being able to move my arms/legs/head for the next couple of days, think I'm getting too old for this...

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Welcome Maddy, nice to see a fellow fan joining the mad ranks of DiS. I've seen them 5/6 times now and they are always great to watch! I'm just slowly regaining my voice and legs back though! Are we getting too old?..................Naaah!

Twas murder trying to get back to the station after, just managed to get the last train back to the Big Smoke.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I know, I limped back to the station but think we went the wrong way and it took us FOREVER! Managed to get on a train at about 12, unfortunately it was the slowest train in the world and rammed with half-dead looking 14 yr olds! Got home at about 3, got up for work at 7, monday wasn't the best day's work I've ever done...

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Lol snap! We were prob on the same train then. I remember getting into the vicinity of the station and running round it twice with 2 mins to go because we couldnt find the entrance! I rolled home at 3 after a long night bus journey and was in at work by 9.....I just sat at my desk, not being able to talk and looking like shit....

Re: Green Day ROCK!

were you in canterbury last summer maddy? you kinda sound like someone I know

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I'm currently reading the Ben Myers biography on them for review, this chapter is on their signing to Warner/Reprise and the consequences it had on their rep as a punk band. It says they chose a producer who understood them/liked the same music understood the ethics of the band and that their early indie cohorts Lookout! would own the rights to Kerplunk and 39/smooth. It claims that this made that label alot of money to continue to support up and coming bands so are they really sell outs?

Re: Green Day ROCK!

no, I was in cornwall all last summer. My grandparents live in canterbury though!

Re: Green Day ROCK!

i liked to think it wasbillie joe, or perhaps im just gullible

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Green Day arent sell outs at all. The info provided by Patricide is true and shows that they cared about where they came from and never lost touch with their roots. The only signed having complete artistic control too, so they havent or have been told what to do with their music/image. They are one of of the only bands around today that have really come up from being friends who jammed in a garage at 15 to being one of the biggest bands around today (who'd of thought that after releasing the criminally underrated Warning?!) and part of the reason why they are my favourite band - They are real.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Green day has been my favorite band since i can't even remember!! I saw them in October here in Atlanta and I thought they were fucking amazing. They sounded great live. I'm going when they come again in August....and I cant wait!!
They are not sell outs.... tre_cools_sticks speaks the truth. And they dont play the same show every time. A lot of them are similar, but they change it up for different cities when they feel like it. In some cities they dont play their entire American Idiot album, and in some they do.
And about bringing fans onto the stage... why would that get boring? I think thats a great way of getting the audience involved and showing that theyre not big headed as many of the stars are becoming these days.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I couldn't care less if they "sold out." Personally, i think the whole notion of "selling out" is ridiculous anyway, i just find it funny how upset they get when questioned about it.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

i think maybe because other bands who are far more deserving of the 'sellout' tag (and i do agree that it's ridiculous) than Grenday. Anyone who thinks that they are some sort of psuedo-punk band is a joke.
As for getting some kid up on stage to play with them, how is that anyway bullshit? i can't think of anything better than being a young music fan and getting to play with your favourite band.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

TRY AGAIN

i think maybe because other bands who are far more deserving of the 'sellout' tag (and i do agree that it's ridiculous) than Grenday, but the media doesn't question their integrity at all. Anyone blah, blah, blah...

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I don't like them cos Boulevard of Broken Dreams was most annoying song ever in my opinion. When September Ends... emo? (cue derision/debate/death threats)

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Sept Ends is not an emo song... its actually about Billies dad who died. And at all of the concerts Billie dedicates it to Johnny Ramone

Re: Green Day ROCK!

lolz.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

They prob get upset about the "selling out" questions because they always been asked about it since they signed to Reprise/Warners. Don't know about you, but if someone kept asking me the same question over and over again, i'd get pretty annoyed. Part and parcel of the game I, and they, know and its not like they 'whine' about it.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Went to see Green Day on 19th, oh my God! What a band, they're amazing live! Love it how Billie gets audience members up on stage, that's such a nice touch.
Had an a-level the next morning, failed that but it was worth it...Green Day!!!

Re: Green Day ROCK!

I heard somewhere that Billie Joe has cancer?!?!?!?!?!??!!?

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Green Day = Meh

Re: Green Day ROCK!

" the support bands wernt that good, i was sitting down filling up paper cups with water and lobbing them"

Why were you doing that? Why? That's what charvers do. When support acts play, one of the reasons they play is to keep YOU entertained while you wait for 'kin Greenday.

It's not big, it's not cool, it's fucking childish. Stop it.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Indeed.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

well, the wait in between support bands was extremely boring! and i'm sure the people who recieved the cup of water to the back/head were grateful, as it was a very hot day.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

waiting for the band always = boring, well depending on who you are with, if it is with a bunch of musically retarded people then it can be EXTREMELY boring, soo i dont know where greenday fans come into that... i am sure there are some exceptions in the mass of clone-like greenday fans.

*sorry if offended anyone having a bad day*

Re: Green Day ROCK!

it's nice to have water on your head to cool you down on a hot day but not when it's fucking lobbed at you by some irritating 14 year old and messes your make up and makes it impossible to see out of your glasses.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

just as well they weren't wearing glasses and appeared to be wearing no make-up then.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

you really are a cunt and I don't like you and I'm not the only one.

14? I'd say closer to 12. You are so STUPID.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

you are the only person who has used the word cunt to describe me, pretty petty considering you've never met me.and anyone who uses the word cunt unneccarsarily or excessively, is infact a very big stupid cunt.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Honestly the whole throwing cups thing really isnt a good idea. I take it you've not been hit by one yet? Trust me it may cool you down, but it can also seriously hurt if the cup's pretty full.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

yeah, you love me really logue.you just wish you were this clever and witty when you were 14.
and i only chucked one cup and it didnt have much in it.
so there.shut up.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

If he wishes that then he must have been an absurdly retarded 14 year old.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

where?i can't see any absurdly retarded 14 year olds!

Re: Green Day ROCK!

Look in the mirror.

Re: Green Day ROCK!

u can't argue with her. sarcasm goes over her head and shes arrogant enought for most insults to bounce off.

i propose that people should me made to sit some test before being allowed on this forums
