Had to miss the final encore to get home, but they were very comprehensive (no Signal to noise or The Kiss though). There were a few problems with the set (Jason slowed down some of the songs, Freak show was a bit of a weak spot/vibe killer), but a few highlights too. Push and Shake dog shake were especially good, I thought; and Edge of the deep green sea was tremendous.
especially if you have crap seats at the back... but !my god! we had such a great time wigging out to this regardless. by the end everyone was on their feet. it was tremendous!

but the nearly three hours I saw was amazing. Disappointed not to hear Us And Them, but I saw them play it in '06 so I can't be too selfish. Highlight for me was A Forest. Absolutely AMAZING x 1,000.
Also very much worthy of a mention; the visuals. Different backdrops for every single song that matched perfectly, absolutely incredible lighting - really powerful, dark moody lights for the darker songs and sparkly stars and pretty, mesmerising lighting for the soppy ones (sorry, not much of a description, I realise). I don't think they did the same lights for any two songs. I've never been so wowed by visuals before, they even whopped Muse in my opinion. Whoever put them together is absolutely top notch in their field.
Thank fuck they didn't play Signal To Noise! In fact, thank fuck they only played two songs from the last two albums....
As a four piece, I reckon a lot of the songs sounded more dynamic, tighter and punchier. Plainsong, Prayers For Rain etc.
But some songs just sounded terrible. Disintegration was flaccid as hell, Lovesong omitted its main riff and suffered for it, Never Enough sounded silly and Wrong Number looked like a struggle to play.
Lovecats was the worst though. No keyboards, no trumpet. You can understand why they've rarely played it in 25 years. It just doesn't work for them live, and doing it on two guitars doesn't make it better.
The final encore (after which a lot of people had left) was the best, though. Just fucking brilliant. Jumping Someone Else's Train sounded AMAAAAAAAZING. And Fire in Cairo did too. It was just all fab.
I love The Cure silly, and maybe it was a Wembley thing, but I felt like I was going to see a nostalgia act. Being presented with posters for Banarama, the Harlem Globetrotters and Torvill and Dean probably didn't help.
and you can see why the dont play it live, it paled in comparison with other better known songs, but on the other hand its the fucking cure, playing the fucking lovecats! :D
at one point, you could hear the actual sound of the guitarists plectrum hitting the strings...
the sound people took the complete piss with them to be honest. was bit dissapointed they didnt play more off fall of math like.
I t was brill
they even played lovecats
:D
they played pretty much every song i hoped they would
what?!
where was this?
why didn't i know? :'''''''''''''(
wembley arena...
bad times :(
They played a long, long set

It was too much for me.
They were obviously on top form, but after an hour and a half of mostly indistinguishable one-pace songs, I called it a night.
Definitely one for the uber-fans.
oh dear oh dear
you missed out! the encore contained their greatest hits and they threw in a few towards the end of the set too.. the whole thing was brilliant though
i know it's hard to have a good time at Wembley
especially if you have crap seats at the back... but !my god! we had such a great time wigging out to this regardless. by the end everyone was on their feet. it was tremendous!
setlist?
i will see them even if it kills me

That looks like a pretty amazing
set. Encore number three in particular...
seeing it written like that
makes it somehow look even better than it was in real life. The whole setlist made me very happy!
:D
^ see!
Encore 3
was the worst encore ever, encore 3 well made up for it though :)
i mean
encore 2 sorry
Had to leave a bit early too

*Sigh* - wish I were back there again.
shame you left early
looks like you missed some of my personal favourites.
There's a torrent of the show
over at Dime.
70% great, 30% poor

65 any good?
They supported, right?
Yup.
They were fantastic, but a little bit let down by their sound.
a little?
at one point, you could hear the actual sound of the guitarists plectrum hitting the strings...

I really regret not going to see them now.
I will eventually see them! IT WILL HAPPEN.

Shake Dog Shake was the biz.... yet people were just stood there like ????

Prayers for RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIINNN!

His prayers for rain squeal was amazing. He often doesn't bother going all out on that. Hurrah.
