I'm listening to their previews all over, watching them on youtube, and I can't come to a final decision, "are they good?", or "are they just a bunch of noise". Help me find out which one

Chaotic, cacophonic nonsense
Which was fun at times, grating at others, and one of them was fucking hot.
They were quality
The album was great. Such a shame they split up. Don't think much of Lightspeed Champion if I'm honest.
dev hynes
is a musical genius, simple
the best band ever.
FACT.
not as good as lightspeed Champion
In my opinion Dev Hynes new band Lightspeed Champion are much better. His new album, Falling off the Lavender Bridge, is excellent. John Rahim
Ya,
it's funny, because I was on StereoGum the other day and saw Lightspeed Champion, and I wrote down that I should listen further into their music and then today, when I was on Test Icicles MySpace which is nonsense now because they broke up, it says that one of the members is now part of Lightspeed Champion, so I'll get Test Icicles and check out Lightspeed Champion, anyone have anything to say about Lightspeed Champion? And I'm thankful for your comments about Test Icicle
Cheers
the two replies to this are the best things ever posted on DiS
i agree
yours sincerely,
jp100
yes
loved them. even though it was a joke. lightspeed champion is ace as well
I proper loved
Test Icicles, I was 15/16 at the time and I was well into it, so much so that I passed out at one of their gigs and had to be carried backstage haha! Oh, memories
I really like Lightspeed Champion and I was into Ratattagg
same here
i got well into them... and their new stuff isnt bad either
p.s. check out Kasms
theyre pretty good.. bit sort of crampsy (rory from the band is in them now)
and also, listen to tropics (matt from rat att agg and people from bullet union)
^this was just to people in general
tropics are ace
shame bullet union split though. They were better.
true
although give tropics time
no doubt about it
they were fun...talk about right place, right time too. i never thought much of their album but they were hilarious live.
i remember seeing them at the bierkeller in manchester in particular and it was fucking ace
very hard to dislike
Even though it was all a joke...
They paved the way for nu-rave.
But they were fucking awesome.
^the unwashed truth is above.
.
it's kind of cool
that a band who only formed to see how far they could take what they themselves thought a 'ridiculous idea' can still inspire debate. they were peurposely, fantastically rubbish and their success actually made them quite unhappy - it really all was meant to be a joke y'know - but it kind of backfired when everyone started treating them as geniuses.
i wouldn't call them genius
but they were damn good, they broke some boundaries, I don't think they thought of it as a joke did they? I just thought they said they didn't like the music.
It's a shame NME raided them so much and they created the horribleness of nu-rave.
But that album is a classic.
you just know
he's going to reform it eventually though. they didnt do much for me.
the NME really didnt raid them that much
they do know, bringing them up all the time, but at the time (and i say this having been obsessed with them) they werent featured in the magazine that much, beyond the odd review.
*now
They are so
good it makes me weep.
personally
one of my favourite bands of all time.
some is just noise.
and that adds to the greatness
ihearttesticicles4evuh

:]

I got love for the 'gwai
I cannot wait till 12th May.
yay
:]
you silly man
hahaha
ATHENETHEGREAT is pretty lol. Test Icicles were massively awful. Lightspeed Champion is just shocking too. AAAAND "DFA" aren't a band. I hope she meant DAF, those leather clad German industrialists.
don't dick on
the icicles
never never ever
dick on test icicles
I wouldn't dream of it
But come on, they weren't any good at all.
pfft
coming from someone who doesnt know who DFA were.
nah they were
too much nostalgia
in this thread. if they were still about they wouldn't have nearly as much adoration. they would release a shit 2nd album, the joke would stop being funny and.. oh wait. I think I just described Klaxons.
i used to hate klaxons for stealing test icicles thunder
but as it is... i will never ever ever stop loving test icicles
maybe it's a good thing
that they handed the towel to klaxons, at least it's left them a half decent legacy.
i guess so
i would have stuck by them to the death though. i maintain that 22nd april 2006 was the best gig i ever went to though. just completely and utterly ridiculous
TRUTH
ditto ditto
:)
i meant
DFA
Death From Above 1979?
you know?
OH!
Right, well, the 1979 bit would have been useful. Apologies though.
forgiven
you are well clever
you fucking twunt. DFA clearly stands for Death From Above.
Actually im starting to think you might be being ironic because you are just that wrong.
Yes
DFA does stand for Death From Above, the record label/production outfit.
i'm going to intervene
and say here the use of DFA was ambiguous. you should just play nicely
look mate you tried to be clever
and missed a very obvious acroynm... carrying on with this is only going to highlight your stupidity. so stop yeah?
"mate"
Yeah, ok hardman. I'm terrified. If I ever see you in Norwich, im gonna die of shame becuase you just totally battered me there.
haha
you showed me!
oh fuck
GOOD ONE M8!
oh just go away and leave us to reminisce over test icicles
come on norwich kids
sort those differences out.
(But don't forget to come to youthmovies on thursday)
To be honest
I only ever liked that Circle Triangle Square song of theirs. I think that's the only one I liked.
They were a bit Blood Brothers lite for my tastes. Like stole BBs moves a little. Doesn't make them bad, though.
oh lemonbrick
i thought you would like them :(
I've never knowingly listened to a song by The Cure either
is this the end of something beautiful?
(to be honest, I didn't really hear much TI material. Dev Hynes is a super fucking nice guy though.)
It could be the begining of the end im afraid
although ill do my best :P
You should listen to the album... literally the first band i ever loved and they are pretty much the reason i like half the music i like now indirectly.
Yeah rory is a lovely bloke as well.
TRUTH
ditto ditto
:)
*sigh*
Listen to Blood Brothers and you'll get what I mean
I think like jacky fucktherave says, they sorta led a lot of people onto hardcore and stuff. Which makes them ok in my book.
i bum
blood brothers a lot.
Also
ATHENETHEGREAT I do know who DFA 1979 (see, writing out the whole name helps!) are. In fact, I can see a copy of their rather dissapointing album in my room right now. However, the Alan Braxe remix of Black History Month was great.
yes it was!
so was the erol alkan romantic rights remix, mstrkrft little girl remix and TESTICICLES sammy e danger black history month remix...
I loved them
I love them.
They were chaotic, unpredictable and inconsistent. They didn't take themselves seriously And they knew how to write dancey-punky-rocky hook-filled songs. And influenced a lot of bands now.
YEY
YEY YEY YEY YEY YEY YEY YEY YEY YEY
um
except they've not really influenced anyone?
i could list several bands
but a lot of them i hate...
as far as influence goes anyway id say they have paved the way for similar sounding bands rather than directly influencing them
yeah
that's a fairer statement really.
THEY HAVE
INFLUENCE EVERYWHERE
um
That's just being silly though isn't it?
yes it is
but i have to defend them to the end..
just
give it up and listen to Needy Girl
boy-8-bit
remix of needy girl is rad
that shit
don't need any remixing.
Top 3 chromeo:
Needy Girl
Rage!
Bonafide Lovin (Tough Guys)
WRONG
Fancy Footwork
TWO STEP TWO STEP
yes yes
truth truth
i like you more each time you agree with me!
this is sick!
as good as Fancy Footwork is, those other 3 songs kick it HARD
the 'two step' bit kicks it harder than anything ever
i think
even harder than
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE?
no
two step
two step
two st
