My mates and I were talking about this today - we thought maximo park, dogs, iggy, and capdown for a bit of brainless jumping.
and we also decided we wanted 2manydjs to come back.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Pixies, QOTSA, Wedding Present, DFA 1979, Blood Brothers, Two Gallants, Saul Williams (But I won't get to see him), Dinosaur Jr, Roots Manuva, Transplants, Arcade Fire, Hot Hot Heat, Editors, Sleater Kinney, Be Your Own Pet, Bad Religion (But I probably won't get in the tent), MAIDEN, Iggy or BSP because I think they clash, Alkaline Trio, Turbonegro, LCD Soundsystem (Maybe), Willy Mason (If he is still playing, which he might not be), Battle, Forward Russia, Audio Bullies and I assume a lot more good acts will be announced for the Dance Tent.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

ok...which bands aren't you looking forward too.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Whatever, I'll probably get to see all those bands anyway, it's all about planning.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

charlie bad religion are shit, and battle are meh, and its spelt audiobullys and you'll end up watching the killers with tim

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

ive already seen quite a lot of the bands that are playing so im most looking forward to the bands i still havent seen live like . . . arcade fire, iggy, willy mason, iron maiden, foo fighters, and ill be checking out my chemical romance because i only read good things about them (and they rocked on the donington coverage on c4)

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Just to add another topic related to Reading to this.

These are bands on the Carling stage that I don't know of, are any of them any good:

Cherubs
Yeti
747's
Clor
Neon
Puggy
Adam Green
Rifles
Every Move A Picture
Young Offenders Institute
Boy Kill Boy

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

i saw clor once ... they were good ... i dont remember them sounding anything like the single they just put out though.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Adam Green is very good. Acoustic singer-songwriter who writes very funny and heartfelt song.

"Jessica, Jessica Simpson/You've got it all wrong"

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

why might willy mason not be playing?

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Dunno, I read somewhere that he had pulled out, it might not be true.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Adam green was one of the mouldy peaches. Pretty similar to them.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

the moldy peaches stuff is better than adam greens solo stuff

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

not a lot really... only maiden and turbonegro i can really be bothered with properly, but theres loads of others who id watch, but im not sure if i want to spend over 300 quid for only two bands that i wouldnt miss...

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

MAKING AN EFFORT TO NOT SEE:
Everything on the Sunday Mainstage
The Transplants
Kasabian
My Chemical Romance etc

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Yeti are a pile of wank. Saw them supporting someone somewhere. I think they're somehow associated with the Libertines i.e. ex-bass player blah blah..

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Clor are amazing.
Rifles are great.
Every Move A Picture - very 80s retro - but better than the Bravery
BKB - awesome!

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Cant believe no ones mentioned the pixies yet.

Whats wrong with you people?

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

GAH, they were the first band on my list.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Sorry, for some reason i managed to ignore that when i read through your list.

Right i cant believe that no-one except me and smallpoxchampion have mentioned the pixies

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

why babyshambles?

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

read you PM and find out

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

The Pixies absolutely ought to be at the top of everyone's list. People that do not agree, after the show, will be sent back to the gulags for re-education training.

I haven't seen most of those bands, but AF in a large setting makes me wonder if that'll translate well. Awsome in a nightclub.

Ace lineup. Have fun you guys. :-)

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

The Pixies
Lemon-jelly (if I can catch a song or two)
Queens of the Stone Age
Special Guests?
Dropkick Murpheys
Dinosaur Jr
Roots Manuva
Iron Maiden
The Stooges
NoFX
Blood Brothers
Yourcodenameis;milo
Arcade Fire
The Licks
Bad Religion
The Dwarves
Capdown
Saul Williams
The Go! Team
Sleater Kinney
Adam Green
Amusement parks on fire

are all the bands I can remember that I wouldn't mind seeing-i probably forgot some good bands.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

like to see:
Pixies
QOTSA
Death From Above 1979
yourcodenameis:milo
Roots Manuva
Babyshambles
Arcade Fire
Nine Black Alps
Emanuel
Million Dead
Eighteen Visions
Mando Diao
Manson
Alkaline Trio
Bloc Party
LCD Soundsystem
Willy Mason
Adam Green
Clor

a few to miss:
Killers
Razorlit
Simple Plan (bottling of the year anyone?)
noFX

anyone know when the stage times are anounced?

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

at the moment im seriuosly thinking about missing The Pixies and plumping for Ladytron instead for the Friday night, catching only glimpses of The Pixies as I feel they are only going to disapoint me, same with The Stooges.

though I've seen most of the bands before im looking forward to seeing:

DFA1979
The Kills
The Cribs
LCD Soundsystem
The Rakes
Sleater Kinney
Raveonettes

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Mr. scruff???? Is he going to play? hasn't been announced yet......bloody well hope he is though. As for who i'm wanting to see:

The Arcade Fire
QOTSA
Mystery jets
British Sea Power (will be my 5th time now - each time better than the last)
LemonJelly
Mylo
BRMC
The Longcut
The Rakes
Sons and Daughters
The Duke Spirit
Editors
Roots Manuva
The Blood Arm
The Coral

I will be disappointed if I miss any of them - they'll probablty all clash knowing my luck

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Most of the bands....

My experience last year taught me Dont plan early.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

I'm quite pissed off that the Arcade Fire and Sleater Kinney clash, because, apart from the pixies, they're the 2 bands I'm looking forward to the most.

Saul Williams
Dresden Dolls
Willy Mason
Amusement Parks On Fire
Blood Brothers
Dinosaur Jnr
maybe the Coral
Clor were good supporting Tom Vek, so i'll probably see them.
The Wedding Present, though they're on too early.
Echo And The Bunnymen.

but i'm not really a huge fan of any of them, this years line up just seems to be full of bands I'm kind of indifferent to.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

PIXIES! (reason I'm going to Leeds)
Saul Williams
The Blood Brothers (will be great as always)
The Coral

I'm only going for the Saturday, I think DFA1979 might be playing that day as well *crosses fingers*

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Absolutely everyone. Apart from the shit bands. Obviously. And despite the hours I'll probably spend staring at the line-up planning my days, it will all go wrong and I'll end up flat on my back covered in cider somewhere in a field in Berkshire.

'kin Planning!

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

"Mr. scruff???? Is he going to play? hasn't been announced yet......bloody well hope he is though"

If you check the ninjatune.com live section you'll see that Mr.Scruff is set to play, and if you go to the official readingfestival.com site and click on the bacardi bar sign on the left hand side you'll see he's been officially confirmed.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

this years line up is awful. There are some gud bands, but not as many as there usually is, and not enough 2 persuade me to go.

Pixies- Id love 2 c, but main stage sound is hit and miss.
Queens of the stone age- new stuff is weak
Turbonegro- Again, the main stage sound can be awful
British sea power
willy mason- will he b any gud on the big radio 1 stage?
Sleater kinney
blood brothers
adam green

These are the only 1s id b intrested in and compared with the past two years ive bin where i was interested in at least 17 bands. Lets not beat around the bush, the whole festival is obsolete now that mclusky are not playing it.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

yeh i always think the line up looks a bit shit, but then when you get there its just great - the whole thing.
how many years have people been going for?
this'll be my 4th

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

The only Pixies album I've got is the Best of - Wave of mutiliation, which I like. I've just never really bothered to get any of their other stuff, not sure why. Can anyone recommend a good kind of starter album, as you'll probably agree Best Of's aren't particularly great as an introduction...

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

I got Doolittle first, then Surfer Rosa and liked them both...

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

I fart in your general direction.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

In no real order:
The Cribs
Foo Fighters
British Sea Power
Willy Mason
The Rakes
The Cribs
British Sea Power
Lemon Jelly
Kings of Leon
Hot Hot Heat
bloc party
The Kills
The Futurheads

I think I most want to see Maximo Park, 'cause I've been following 'em for a while now, and can't wait to see tham at a BIG venue.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Nah, you won't get them proper until you actually get there, last year http://www.reading-festival.org.uk/ posted up proposed times in August (I think) but they turned out to be completely wrong.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

fuckers' this means i cannot be super organised..grr

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

The National (don't mean to labour a point)
Willy Mason
The Pixies

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

see this unofficial listing just temps me to plan my festival which will no doubt lead to disapointment when everything changes..hmm

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Pixies, the only thing to really catch on the main stage this year.

Blood Brothers are ace live as well, same with DFA 1979 and Art Brut.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

i havent seen art brut before but i heard one of their sessions on 6music and they sounded quite fun

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Gonna do Leeds on the Friday and maybe Saturday then Reading on Sunday then that way i get two helpings of Adam Green and the really quite fantastic, superb, excellent erm really good, great Towers of London.. I'll also watch Clor and Dresden Dolls..

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

what, are you just turning up and getting tickets on the day?

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

the mars volta, diamanda galas, les savy fav, acid mothers temple, blonde redhead, beans, the locust, subtitle.... oh wait, that's atp in december. oops.

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

Whoa. That's quite a hefty line-up. Probably better than our Coachella. Lots of tough decisions to be made!

I think I could manage it till Sunday. Running from Bloc Party to the Bunnymen, the Futureheads over to the Dresden Dolls etc. I don't envy you guys! Er, wait a minute. Yeah, I do!!

Re: Who are you looking forward to at Reading?

haha i love doing the whole running from stage to stage thing
its not usually running tho - more like half arsed walking with a burger in one hand and a programme in the other trying to work out 24 hour times.
