I've never heard of this venue before, but it looks like a nice little pre-ATP show for Les Savy Fav:

I want to go

it's on a bloody thursday though, they haven't said what time the band will be on, and I have to start work at 7.30 am the next day.

FYI The Works is/was probably Kingston's biggest and 'best' chav n cheese club after Oceana. The people who run our local record store, Banquet, have started Doing Things there that have sounded interesting.

I keep meaning to go...

7:30am?

Ouch! The flyer says doors aren't til 9pm so I guess the bands must be on reasonably late...

I have a friend who lives in Surbiton/Tolworth (on whose floor I will probably crash after that gig) who said something similar about The Works being pretty cheesy, but some of the previous "New Slang" nights look pretty good.

I've just had a look

That's fucking MILES out.

Still, you can't argue at that price for one of the best live bands in the world.
You can count me IN.

We Are The Physics

are supporting and its on me way home so I shall most certainly be attending.

New Slang

is probably one of the best clubs around. They have amazing bands and great djs for a low price, but from where I live it's really difficult to get home from so can only go every now and again.

I'll be at this one though.

Usually..

The Works is used for cheesy clubs, R'n'B and Dance nights but on a Thursday night the guys from Banquet Records take over for New Slang. It opens at 9, the first band is usually on around 10.30. Second band about 11.30, then DJ's after that until 2/2.30am.

I attend New Slang pretty much every week because I am just down the road at University. It is the best club in South London, and actually beats most clubs in London. It's also very cheap, which makes its even more enjoyable!

If you're thinking about coming, you definitely should.

From the sounds of it

the bands play first then djs on till 2am so you wouldn't have to wait till early hours for lsf, if that helps.

I'm considering the mae shi + frank turner

The first band goes on at

9ish, and all the music will be done by half 11 / midnight, then it's DJ time. New Slang is so wicked. Go go go!

Les Savy Fav at the Works!

Crazy. I haven't been there since it was called Volts. I feel a looseness in my bowels but I will be there.

Tickets...

In regards to this I would strongly advise getting the tickets beforehand as opposed to just turning up on the night. Although you'll still get in there can be an absolute bitch of a queue for big bands. This time round they have a separate ticket queue though so its well worth it. Tickets from Banquet web site.

Postponed again

Postponed to 7th Aug and now the Banquet site says it's off again...
