How much admiration and/or respect is there for Bruce Springsteen in the DiS community?

Do a lot of you recognise his genius or do you think his music doesn't really speak to a younger generation of British listeners?

There is a fair amount

from what I remember on here.

i think springsteen

is probably my favourite EVAR.

Brrruuuccceeee!!!!

it had to be done.

also my favourite artist ever, no-one really comes close. Is there any current band that comes close to being The E Street Band?

And yes

Born to Run = one of the best albums of the 70s

Nebraska = one of the best albums of the 80s

i have the same opinion of Springsteen

as Boss Christ does. He's on myspace if you wanna hear his 'tribute' song :)

Good

I'm glad to hear it. The man is a legend and has released as many great, great albums as just about anyone ever.

i love him

sorta lost the faith after born to run

I kinda like Tunnel of love
I mean I like the mopey mumbly records
I do
I get them

and the rising was OK for ten minutes but is cabaret
and So was live

but
fuck me
I had given up

Magic is awesome

There are 5 classic and I mean classic songs in the first 8
I liked radio nowhere
but got bored if its huff and puff

but dang

that is an awesome record

ignore me at your peril

...

voice of the people 70s stuff = yes
stadium rock 80s stuff = no
grizzled 00s stuff = yes again

i can't think of anything from the 90s

Born in the USA is

one of his weaker albums.

Top three album list would be:

1. Born to Run
2. Nebraska
3. Darkness on the Edge of Town
3b. The Wild the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle

the man

is a rare beast - a legend that actually deserves and earned the title.
i listen to him almost every day - especially the live in new york version of 'my love will not let you down'.
have seen him play some storming shows - looking forward to the cardiff gig this summer that happily coincides with a massive fucking beer festival to get all organically twotted at before the show.
sweetnez.

I get misty eyed listening to Born to Run

Its just not the same when you are driving down a satellite town dual carriageway.....somehow doesnt have the romance of big freeways with "turnpikes"

Streets of Philadelphia =

chuffing amazing.

he is a legend

being from jersey, Bruce is basically a god over here.

his 70's stuff is monster, so is Nebraska.

i quite like Born in the USA as an album though, some of his best tunes are on it.

The Rising and Magic were solid, considering he's nearly 50 its pretty cool that he has stayed credible.

Legend

Some great live bootlegs floating around that are well worth a listen.

He's great.

I saw him at the O2 in December and it was spectacularly good.

born to run

is the dog's bollocks.

Consistently brilliant

But criminally under-appreciated by the British mainstream these days. I was over in Norway recently, and he's f***ing HUGE there!! I was supposed to be seeing him in Oslo this summer, but something came up so I'll have to bag me a ticket for one of the Emirates Stadium gigs instead.
Saw him at the Old Trafford cricket ground in 2003 - he played for 3 hours, running and sliding around the stage like a frontman a third of his age!

One of my bands

is covering the title track at the moment. Fucking tremendous. It's hard to do the saxophone solo justice on guitar, though. I love playing the bit after "...in an everlasting kiss". Man...
