If you mean to be clever there

that's really funny. If you're just being a prick, then not so much...

50-50.

i give myself 4/10.

this thread is rubbish

It just a poor mans imitation of the 'what's your favourite new band' thread. Its the same old story, one good idea then the majors sign up every similar idea and the market gets stagnant.

it's not like the good old days when people used to ask 'whats your favourite new band'...

these are just an excuse to publicise your own band or a band your managing anyway- you can always tell who is jagging and not- 'new fresh sound- a new sound, unlike anything you've heard before'-it's all jag -speak for pap

You know

You could just post a link to a band you like and not be such a silly thing

But he's right

your 'post', was the same thing you've been gibbering on about for a week or so now. I could post something but I only have so much positivity per day and it's gone now.

And it's hardly a thread to encourage discussion is it?

It's on a par with 'What's your Dad's name?' but without that thread's anarcho-surrealist undertones.

His name is...

Charles.

but

isn't it sad that this thread has so few replies, especially compared to the one about a deleted thread. only takes second to big up a band... kinda proves my point.

i guess

the enemy

i just love their passion and integrity. almost as much as i love hard fi.

Nah, man.

Not enough songs about Castles for my liking.

Apes

Just cos I am playing them now and they should be as celebrated as Liars, YYYs, TV on the Radio... but weirdly they're not... WEIRD.

KAP BAMBINO

enjoyed their show in nottingham a few weeks back. The girl is very arresting/ scary in a good way. Not really my sort of thing but...

I'm so full of positivity

I'm going to break the rules and put two bands!

Algernon Cadwallader
They completely rip off American Football and Cap'n Jazz but are quite lovely and have an album out soon
www.myspace.com/algernoncadwallader

Held By Hands
'Trading On Past Treasures' is pretty much the bestest thing I've heard in ages
www.myspace.com/heldbyhands

^ Held By Hands

Yes

Tubelord

They are Lord of the Tube what more could you want?
http://www.myspace.com/tubelord

Telepathe

are indeed pretty damn awesome. the march is a cracking little song.

rap though? seriass? there's no rap on the ep, so is this some crazy ass new direction?

I thought this would be you XD

I heart telepathe.

pseudo nippon

http://www.myspace.com/pseudonippon1984

cos it's stupid and i like it.

Silver Jews

http://www.myspace.com/silverjews

The new album, released in a couple of months, is fantastic. A return to form.

hmm

KID CAPTAIN

my band oh dear..is this allowed?
80s hinged , frantic, poppy goodeness.

www.myspace.com/kidcaptain x

Dude,

that is so NOT allowed!

Copy Haho

Is it getting boring to call them Scottish Pavement? College rock like when it was still good. You Are My Coalmine has absolutely been my favourite song for weeks and weeks.

www.myspace.com/copyhaho

Oh my God

This thread only got to the op of the music forum because it has the most recent post...SO overrated.

The Twilight Sad as I am going to see them tonight

Monarch

you could have the shoegazing band from Baltimore or the French Doom Metal Band. Both are ace!

Katerwaul

Radiohead meets EITS, although that cheapens them slightly, and probably the nicest guys ever.

http://www.myspace.com/katerwaulmusic

(I think)

Bear Claw

Shellac/Fugazi noise bastards, have 2 basses no guitars. Recorded by Steve Albini (like all stickers on front of lp's if Steve's involved)

The Wipers

i just got the 3 album box set and a tshirt in the post and ordered 5 more albums and i am obsessed.

I spent ages

saving up pocket money to buy that boxset when I was 15. Then when I had enough the shop had sold it. And was I christ going to buy the imported copy in HMV at their prices. Soulseek all the way. :)

cLOUDDEAD

i'm not going to pretend that i'm being new or innovative by liking them, but i heart them right now so i'm contributing to this thread by saying so. i heart cLOUDDEAD.

Adebisi Shank

they sound like a spaceship battle, but louder.

www.myspace.com/adebisishank

Death Cigarettes

www.myspace.com/deathcigarettes

Sound like Metal Box era PiL with a feisty gal singer who'll jump off the stage and maul you about.

OK Tokyo

www.oktokyo.co.uk

Yeah, I do happen to know the frontman and drummer but sue me. They make me smile like I've won the lottery or something..

You're the

bass player? ;)

haha!

unfortunately not, I can barely strum an A chord let alone bust out sex music as the OK Tokyo boys do!

PAUL STEEL

Ridiculously well written pop songs in the style of (predeictably for me) the Beach Boys, Jellyfish and ELO. He's only about 19 as well the bastard!

http://www.myspace.com/paulsteel

they're not new or anything, but CAMERA OBSCURA

just the best, boldest, brightest pop songs ever. Stick "Let's Get Out Of This Country" on and pretend that spring is here.

I also love the mystery jets single with laura marling. again, perfect for the change of seasons.

i'll play

Caroline Smith
Lovely singer-songstress from Minneapolis who plays beautiful little melodies and sings with a gorgeous voice.
http://www.myspace.com/carolinesmithmusic

Juno

so horribly ignored and pretty much my favourite band at the moment. If you like post-hardcore (ugh) or post-rock (ugh) with any imagination and passion then please listen.

www.myspace.com/junomusic

I particularly recommend "When I was In"

well,

i am listening to why? for the first time and they're really quite wonderful. so that can be my positive contribution for the day!

Love those guys

A future lived in past tense is ace!

^5

yes so so ace. I wish they were still around, as I think the time is just right for them and they'd get the success they deserved. They're also one of those bands that you just want to get people into because they made music that was beyond the reach of most bands who do "similar" things.

Yeah

they do the guitar atmospherics thing so well. I initially got into them for their emo qualities but they're not that emo really. Reckon they would have been totally intense live!

I saw them once

in San Francisco with Unwound. Ace gig and they were much heavier than on record. Unfortunately I didn't know their music at all before I saw them so I couldn't appreciate it as much as I would now.

Lights to Lead Us

A great post-rockish with emo-esque vocals band from Cardiff, their myspace is a bit sparse at the moment but they're pretty ace live, and getting better all the time.

http://www.myspace.com/lightstoleadus

The Mars Volta.

It's always The Mars Volta for me

JAY REATARD

<genericdescriptionmostpeoplewontread>

www.myspace.com/jayreatard

Yeah!

Reatard rules.

MEN OF UNITUS!

You have no idea how good this band is- well, you might do, but if you don't then listen to them now, or soon...

www.myspace.com/menofunitus

I'm liking

Surrounded, who are playing the Social (London)next Monday. Remind me a lot of Sparklehorse and Grandaddy.

http://www.myspace.com/surrounded

BREAKNECK STATIC

anglo-japanese evillity from southend *of all places) who've been kicking around for a few years now but who've just got a new vocalist i think and send me a CD with some new songs on and they totally kick ass and you said one sentence right?
www.myspace.com/breakneckstatic

Emmure.

You won't like them.
www.myspace.com/emmure

favours for sailors

www.myspace.com/favours4sailors

the UK pavement crossed with the enemy and television

blicky

you won't like this either.
http://www.myspace.com/bl1cky

Death To Anders

A bit Modest Mouse, a bit Pavement, a lot great.
http://www.myspace.com/deathtoanders

Telepathe

yes yes yes.

also playing a DiS show in Sheffield, May 26... for a pound. get involved!

http://drownedinsound.com/articles/3126285

YIP YIP

TOTALLY PSYCHOTIC SYNTH WEIRDOES

http://www.myspace.com/yipyip

Go mental.

Cows

http://www.last.fm/music/Cows

39 Lashes must be the best musical theatre cover ever

Deerhunter

Astonishing band. Could be as influential as Sonic Youth have been.

the mae shi

hadnt heard anything of them until this tour with JoFo was announced, now loving them.

Also Born Ruffians.

Hapy Tap

Gorgeous glitchy folk pop, with a sound that takes in everything from traditional shamisen to analog synthesizers

http://www.myspace.com/hapytapsvirtualplace

Erm

Erm,

The National and School Of Language.

Thanks.

Vast

Nude Album

the wave pictures

his voice is dead good. his words are dead good. there's something about them that's just going to last and last. i like the fast songs best of all. Leave That Scene Behind is like Morrissey doing Arctic Monkeys.

iLiKETRAiNS

I like the new album quite a bit. Although I reckon they can do better.

Love, love love love

going to see them live in leeds soon.

Boss Volenti

Dublin rock band with great songs and a gorgeous bassist.
www.myspace.com/bossvolenti

guitarist*

cats in paris

kooky, intelligent avant-pop where the songs actually have a focus and never become self-indulgent like so many of the others trying the same thing

www.myspace.com/catsinparis

www.catsinparis.com is also a pretty hilarious website for all concerned.
