It's time for the bi-monthly Weezer thread, but this one's different - no discussion of whether Blue is better than Pinkerton please.

This thread is all about Green vs Maladroit, i think.

Green wins.

Green, for me

Green

Green

It's fairly decent

Green

1 - Pinkerton
2 - Blue
3 - Green

there was a time

when I thought Green was the second best.

Obviously I was wrong, but it's still easily the 3rd best.

green

because of the motherfucking singles.

Green is woeful

It sounds like every other, over-produced generic "heavy" rock MTV album of the time and, i'm sorry, 2nd track in and the "oh baby!" backing vocals of Photograph make me want to reach into my ears and pull out my life. After such a ferocious and spiteful, humungously noisy record such as Pinkerton, this is an absolute insult. Nothing they did after Pinkterton is worthy of your time.

Green

Green

But please let it be known that Maladroit IS a good album

maladroit by a long way

a VERY long way

you seem to be in the minority

therefore you are wrong and need to change your opinion

k?

Green

It's a pretty good album actually - Don't Let Go, Smile, Simple Pages especially.

Maladriot isn't bad, it's just not as good as Green.

Smile

sounds like Boyzone with a distorted guitar in the background. I don't understand how people can listen to this.

Well the music

comes out of the speakers, sound waves travel through the air, and then reach the ear, making the ear drum vibrate, and so on.

Green/Maladroit

It's too close to call for me.

.

Actually, I'll go for Maladroit because of 'Keep Fishin'.

Green, I suppose

though I don't care much for it. The production is horribly shiny and vocal melody-mimicking guitar solos grate like buggery, but some of the songs are alright - Knock Down Drag Out, Don't Let Go, Smile spring to mind.

Maladroit or Make Believe are just irredeemably bad, though.

Green

although there's not much in it. Take Control is great, but the only track of any worth on Maladroit.

Pinkerton

1. Blue
2. Green
3. Pinkerton

Green

They have gotten progressively worse, but 'Green' is an '8' no doubt.

Maladroit

Never felt so alone

hmm

Maladroit is unfairly maligned, i feel. The chorus for American Gigolo is in my top 3 Weezer moments.
I'd probably just about go with Green though.

Blue

oh yeah.

green

but why bother with it at all when you've got pinkerton and blue..?

Green

Island In The Sun > the whole of Maladroit.

Island in the Sun is a great song

but it has been diluted somewhat by the way they've managed to get it on both Maladroit AND Make Believe since in some form. They'll probably stick it on the next one too.

that's

down to Geffen and not the band.

But yeah...Green is still pretty shit...

I know it is

But it still dilutes the song's quality a little for me.

fingers crossed

next one ?

I only have blue and pinkerton. Iv been told I'm not missing out.

You're really not

It's true that everything they recorded after Pinkerton is shit.

But...

If they merged the last 3 albums into one, got rid of all the crap and left all the good stuff, you'd have a fantastic album.

this is very correct

thats what they should have done, merged the fuck out of them and released one great album

green is way way better than maladriot

cos maladroits derivative shite

.

Listen to Green more but do enjoy a good outta-nowhere listen to Maldroit. Green's more of a summer record, and that's surely what Weezer were made for.

Green

> Maladroit

Green is cack but it does have Hash Pipe & Island in the sun on

whilst Maladroit has no songs of any note or worth on, in fact it is the 2nd worst LP ever after Moseley Shells by OCS
