but compared to what they evolved into, it's not really up there with the likes of the major 3 albums they recorded after 'March on Electric Children.'
It's still kind of nasty, but they seemed more comfortable with what they were doing. YM is still amazing, but it's missing something. That said, Vital Beach and Giant Swan off of YM are fucking amazing songs.
My a million miles. It might be in my top 10 favourite albums of all time. The Ross Robinson production really brought out the best in them, just as it did for At the Drive In.
One of my favourite albums ever, every song is amazing, and it does what I think every good album should do - makes you desperately want to be in that band.
They took everything I love about rock and threw it into their stuff; great live act, awesome lyrics, nuts instrumentation, RIFFS and just plenty of WTF moments to keep you guessing. They were very close to my heart and people who haven't should give them the time of day.
has the right mix of shared vocals (as opposed to later albums of pure Johnny tracks) and the storytelling is amazing, the chaos of sound has never been beaten and tracklisting wise is their best. Ah, it's so much better than Crimes and YM.
can't wait its going to be unbelievably amazing. better than jaguar love. and agreed about storytelling aspect to burn piano island. lyrically theres no better band.
they never wrote a 100% fully consistent, obvious "best album". Each of them have their patchy patches, however brief. Contained within their last three albums, however, is some of my favourite music ever written.
Which is why I can never reply to "top X albums ever" topics.
bizzarely...i only listened to blood brothers for the first time about 10 days ago! mate lent me their cd. first 2 tracks off young machetes are great!!! atonal lovelyness. hardcore yet poppy.
as much as I like ¨Feed Me To The Forest¨, Blood Brothers have proved that they know how to start an album better. Also, ¨The Shame¨ and ¨Giant Swan¨ are probably better closers, even though ¨everybody needs a little devastation¨ gets stuck in my head all the time.
And sometimes my attention starts to waver around Wolf Party and Celebrator. Tiny little stuff like that - for me Crimes is a solid 9. And so not perfect.
burn piano island. although listening to this adultery is ripe most atm. depends what mood you're in, each album will give you something different. which is awesome.
probably
Burn Piano Burn lacks variety, and Young Machetes is a bit scatterbrained. Both excellent nonetheless.
*Island
well
it's true that Burn... lacks immense variety, but looking at it as an album, it works magnificently. I've yet to hear anything like it.
Young machetes
has become my favourite but i fucking LOVE crimes
i love YM
but i find Crimes more well rounded and coherrent.
agreed
but the fact that set fire to the face on fire is on YM means that it wins, because that is the best blood brothers song EVARZ
n00b
It's not as good as
Trash Flavoured Trash.
that song
blows my mind.
probably just about
though i love love love young maschetes
CRIMES CRIMES CRIMES!
young machetes is very good though.have they definately split now???
yeah i split them up
because i am a massive gay.

Yep
And the legend that is Justin Pearson too. Pretty much a super group.
a pretty meh 'supergroup'
any band with justin pearson in
is a super group.
any band with justin pearson in
sounds the same.
apart from the pre-locust ones.
and?
its incredible!
gabe serbian as well!
Young Machetes
No love out there for
'this adultery is ripe'?
i love march on....
primarily for new york slave. bpib has a massive place in my heart tho so i'd go for that as my favourite
I like 'This Adultery is Ripe'
but compared to what they evolved into, it's not really up there with the likes of the major 3 albums they recorded after 'March on Electric Children.'
Crimes
It's still kind of nasty, but they seemed more comfortable with what they were doing. YM is still amazing, but it's missing something. That said, Vital Beach and Giant Swan off of YM are fucking amazing songs.
young machetes has a better opening to an album
FIRE!! FIRE!!! FIRE!!
I'm still in for Burn, Piano Island, Burn.
Guitarmy is one of the best songs EVARRRR.
Crimes for me
yep Crimes
been listening to it lots & lots recently
Burn, Piano Island, Burn.
My a million miles. It might be in my top 10 favourite albums of all time. The Ross Robinson production really brought out the best in them, just as it did for At the Drive In.
i totally agree
plus it has the best songs. and one of the best endings to an album ever.
crimes is a close second.
if you were only gonna leave me with one album it'd be 'Piano Island' because it was the first i hea
But they finished on a high, 'Young Machetes' is their best.
. . .
Crimes.
Haha, Diver sneaks it in...
didn't cha givvit a bad review somewhere? I'm not complaining, your writing about them got me into BB.
Burn, Piano Island Burn
EASILY
One of my favourite albums ever, every song is amazing, and it does what I think every good album should do - makes you desperately want to be in that band.
troof
crimes
burn piano island
march on
young machetes
this adultery is ripe
however they are all fucking brilliant. RIP. :(:(:(:(
This is a good thread
for me, as I neglected to explore them until Young Machetes, was going to get a ticket to ULU before it passed, and then they split up...
I ADORE Young Machetes and've got Ambulance vs. Ambulance on 7", but where else should I go? Burn, Piano Island, Burn, sounds/looks good, right?
Crimes
but I adore YM and BPIB.
They took everything I love about rock and threw it into their stuff; great live act, awesome lyrics, nuts instrumentation, RIFFS and just plenty of WTF moments to keep you guessing. They were very close to my heart and people who haven't should give them the time of day.
Crimes is also my fave album cover ever.
burn piano island burn for me
Ditto
I love Ambulance Vs Ambulance
burn piano island burn
is their only consistently good album, in my opinion.
Burn Piano Island Burn
But I'd say the first three tracks on their last three albums have been fucking phenomenal.
If anyone hasn't searched for it, try and get Pink Tarantulas, that's about equal to 50% of the BPI,B material
I'm so close to changing my vote to Burn Piano Island Burn
so close.
Burn Piano Island Burn
has the right mix of shared vocals (as opposed to later albums of pure Johnny tracks) and the storytelling is amazing, the chaos of sound has never been beaten and tracklisting wise is their best. Ah, it's so much better than Crimes and YM.
Oh and Johnny's new band isn't get much love...
http://www.myspace.com/pastlivesmusic
I like these guys better than Jaguar Love
I would really rather have a full length Head Wound City LP though.
*Jordan's
not Johnny's.
UGH.
music should be up by the end of the month
can't wait its going to be unbelievably amazing. better than jaguar love. and agreed about storytelling aspect to burn piano island. lyrically theres no better band.
..
and musically and everythingly.
yes
crimes
Defo Crimes, I got slammed for saying that a few weeks ago.
Right. As someone who's only heard 'This Adultery is Ripe'.
I feel like someone writing on a Radiohead thread who's only heard Pablo Honey.
I really liked that record. They've done even better ones. Cool.
So I should really get 'Crimes'? Yeah?
i'd go for the more gradual transition
of BPI,B
It's not on emusic unfortunately
But Crimes is
i'm all about young machetes
huge gold ak-47 and laser life are the 2 best songs they've ever done, and he rest of the album isn't too shabby either.
Island
was a face melting tech assault tank whereas Crimes was its milder mannered brother who had a soft side and liked D&D.
Burn, Piano Island, Burn
is the jaw-dropper. Then:
Crimes
Young Machetes
March On Electric Children
This Adultery Is Ripe
If you ask me
they never wrote a 100% fully consistent, obvious "best album". Each of them have their patchy patches, however brief. Contained within their last three albums, however, is some of my favourite music ever written.
Which is why I can never reply to "top X albums ever" topics.
new to me
bizzarely...i only listened to blood brothers for the first time about 10 days ago! mate lent me their cd. first 2 tracks off young machetes are great!!! atonal lovelyness. hardcore yet poppy.
in a friendly way
where is the fault in Crimes?
I just can't see it, for me it is a 10/10 album.
:)
i just never took to Crimes.
In order i'd put:
1. Burn, Piano Island, Burn
2. Young Machetes
3. March On Electric Children
4. Crimes
(not heard the debut)
get the debut
its amazing. but good order otherwise.
Well,
as much as I like ¨Feed Me To The Forest¨, Blood Brothers have proved that they know how to start an album better.
BURN, PIANO ISLAND, BURN
by about 6.4 metres
would probably go for
burn piano island. although listening to this adultery is ripe most atm. depends what mood you're in, each album will give you something different. which is awesome.
