I haven't been to the cinema in at least two years, and don't bother to watch any films that my family put on at home. I'm just not interested. So I can totally understand if someone else just isn't interested in my preferred art form. People just have different interests?

wrote a long feature in the student magazine about how he doesn't like music because it falsely manipulates your emotions and creates the false illusion that a better existence can be achieved through it. At one point he even called the person who first mass printed music scores for general consumption a great Satan.

Bet he'd be a laugh to hang out with.

But my youngest brother only listens to video game music. He has 1000+ songs from video games, and even bought an 8G iPod nano so he could listen to them at school.

Fucking boring, it annoys me. He thinks people like Michael Bublé are great.

but strangely enough he was a very vibrant and lovely scouser, he was freindly (in his faux belligerant way) to everyone, he was cheeky and made everyone smile. He loved Liverpool FC passionately and would spontanelously burst into ditties (some ad libed on the spot) about his team, (sounds annoyingly like a cliche i know, but he revelled in this)
He also self confessed to not really liking music, why would he ever need to like anything more than atomic kitten was his logic.

what scares me is that they most people that 'do NOT like music' are actually quite smart.... just different strokes for different folks i guess

There's me who shares a bedroom with her and you'd think there'd be some sort of subliminal thing going on with me playing music every day, often raving on about new albums/oncoming gigs etc. etc.

Oh and there's my brother the hip hop boy if she needed inspiration in another field but no. She doesn't like music :(

Absolutely no interest whatsoever. She doesn't particularly hate music (unless it is too 'intrusive') but she genuinely doesn't care about it - has never bought music.

My Dad likes only 2 kinds of music - Wagner and Simon + Garfunkel.

aren't into music...althou one of them is mad about iron maiden, devo and morrisey. He has memorized all their songs and does brilliant renditions.

But he doesn't like music. apart from maiden, morrisey and devo.

Another mate has no cultural interests but forces himself because he goes for arty expressive girls...so when going out with one hes a theater buff, then a regular gallery goer, and classical recitations. He refuses to go anywhere however, that requires that you untuck your shirt.

I meet an alarmingly high number of people that not only seem to not have a liking for music, they appear to actually despise it to the point of wanting to entirely enslave it for their personal material benefit

fortunately I meet just the right amount of people who are actually living, breathing, walking, talking music to make a shield of the magic in their bones

yeah, I have met a few people who have not appreciated music and I am always suspicious of them. I'm usually right. Even worse is knowing someone who had a complete passion for music but let it die, as did my long term ex, which I think kind of made a part of himself die too. Very sad to watch.

She doesn't care for music which really annoys my Grandad who does. Although she used to listen to Jean Michel Jarre and other instrumental, ambient stuff but only occasionally. Not anymore.

People like different things, I find the idea of not liking music quite strange but I don't think that makes these people odd. I don't care for film which some might find a bit strange.
