Just having a shift through some stuff through my room and I found all my old cassettes! Including some old mixtapes that I made! The oldest one I have dates back to 2002 when I was 14 ( i definitely made ones earlier but they sadly don't appear to be around anymore). Anyway, it reads:
Side A
1. Jimmy Eat World- Sweetness
2. Muse- Bliss
3. Idlewild- American English
4. Nickelback- Too Bad
5. White Stripes- Fell In Love With A Girl
6. Elwood- Sundown
7. Limp Bizkit- Boiler
8. Muse- Showbiz
9. Linkin Park- In The End
10. Sum 41- Pain For Pleasure (*cringe*)
Side B
1. Feeder- Come Back Around
2. Muse- Shrinking Universe
3. Hoobastank- Crawling In The Dark
4. Feeder- Just A Day
5. Papa Roach- Blood Brother
6. Cooper Temple Clause- Panzer Attack
7. Alkaline Trio- Private Eye
8. Placebo- Slave To The Wage
9. American Hi-Fi- Wall Of sound
10. The Music- Getaway

I was in an interesting phase there of starting to move towards some decent tastes in music (Muse, CTC, White Stripes..) but still retaining a definite love of all things nu-metal!

Whats the oldest mix tape you still own and whats on it?

..

I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it involves a selection of music from the video game Dynamite Headdy on the Megadrive, Parklife by Blur, Faster by the Manics and about half an hour of me and my mates making up 'hilarious' commentary to FIFA 95. Oh, and the Graham Taylor song. I fucking loved that tune.

good thread

this is from about 2000 I think, when i was 19.

Side A
Bluetones - The Fountainhead
Supergrass - Time
Badly Drawn Boy - Say It Again
The Beta Band - To You Alone
Clinic - The Second Line
Radiohead - Morning Bell
Lambchop - Up With People
SFA - Dacw Hi
RHCP - Scar Tissue
Coldplay - Shiver (acoustic)
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Face Like Summer

Side B
Doves - The Cedar Room
The Verve - History
Idlewild - Happy To Be Here
Massive Attack - Teardrop
Gomez - Touchin' Up
Green Day - Time of Your Life
Oasis - Whatever
Stereophonics - Just Lookin'
The Delgados - Everything Goes Around
Stereolab - One Small Step

It's my favourite ever mixtape. It's not representative of my whole music taste (I think at the time i was probably listening to a lot of Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach too!) - this was my 'I'm feeling a bit sad' tape.

i've only ever made one mix cd in my life

because i'm shit at it. but it was about two years ago and it had some blood brothers, the first foals demo, some youthmovies, some cursive and some other stuff i can't remember.

that sounds

like a pretty good one to me!

My older brother used to be a godlike figure when it came to making mix tapes. Then he found religion.

Not a mix

but I've got a cassette somewhere that's got Boy with the arab strap on one side and Deserters songs on the other must be from late 97, I've probably got mix tapes older than that will have to dig them out!
