Sleepercar:

“West Texas” is the highly anticipated release from Sleepercar (Jim Ward of Sparta). The first song conceived for West Texas originated in a moment of solitude while Ward was waiting to soundcheck on what turned out to be the last At the Drive In tour. Fast forward seven years, and Ward is set to release a full length album chock full of Americana rock inspired by all things West Texas and influenced by the likes of The Old 97’s, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. The songs explore different uses of rhythms, voices and moods, allowing Ward to be more diverse with the compositions. Jim Ward is currently the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band Sparta. He was also the co-founder, guitarist and backup singer for At the Drive-In and has shared the stage with everyone from Pearl Jam, Incubus, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, and Dashboard Confessional. Look for the release on Dine Alone in Canada and Australia, late April 2008.
Sleepercar will be supporting City and Colour’s Canadian tour in late May through early June.

Brant Bjork

“Punk Rock Guilt” is Brant Bjork clearly expressing his need to make a no-bullshit rock record. Hailing from Palm Desert, California, Bjork formed Kyuss with locals Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Chris Cockrell, and John Garcia. Kyuss was signed to Elektra and became the first desert rock band to achieve international success by spearheading a musical movement that brought heavy and psychedelic sounds back to rock and roll and served as a prototype for all “desert/stoner rock”. Bjork is not only one of the baddest rock drummers of our time, but a premier talent on all levels. Brant Bjork and The Bros have toured for much of the past 5 years all over Europe, the U.S., Canada, and Australia. BB & the Bros live shows are fast becoming recognized as the best live rock and roll going.
As a philosophy, artistically and otherwise, Brant Bjork has always stayed true to his Punk Rock roots as the corner-stone of his creative energy. “To do your own thing, your own way, for your own reasons”.

Being an independent artist with no shame and a keen sense of humor, Brant Bjork took the term Punk Rock Guilt and simply let it represent his personal Rock-n-Roll freedom. “This record is the shit...and it was worth the wait...for me and you”.

“Punk Rock Guilt” is set for an early May 2008 release on Dine Alone Records in Canada.

Black Lungs

Inspired by such wide-ranging influences as folk, punk, classical, soul and country, Black Lungs create dark, sweeping piano melodies intertwined with crude guitar lines and harsh whiskey-drowned vocals. Far removed from the attacking sounds of his band Alexisonfire, Wade MacNeil’s approach returns to the basics. Part four-chord punk and part classical composition, Black Lungs is a stab at simplicity.

Black Lungs crafts fiercely literate lyrics and strikingly uncomplicated melodies with an anthemic, raw intensity that comes from the heart and hits home. “Black Lungs is the soundtrack for punk rockers, hip hoppers, pill poppers, young ladies, show stoppers,” and for every music enthusiast who refuses to be categorized.

You can catch the Black Lungs touring Canada starting April 22 with the Cancer Bats, and Late May with City and Colour.
