I can't escape from this thread any more. They're top on my last.fm chart and have been for ages. I think I really goddamned love this band, I have to listen to Low Level Owl at least once a day to feel happy.
And yes, Low Level Owl Vol 1+2 is definitely their best work. Mare Vitalis is pretty good, but it's nothing on what I am going to term an absolute masterpiece of 'emo culture' *shudder*
Was any bastard lucky enough to see them live?

.
its possible they could be playing my festival in august in manc and london
London?
I'll be there
Dude
What festival is this?
I saw Low Level Owl 1 in HMV the other day
In the 'Metal' section. I laughed until I nearly coughed my lungs up.
I heart Appleseed
I really do adore The Appleseed Cast. I saw them a couple years back in Leeds. I hope they come back again soon.
Mare Vitalis is my favourite.
I'm just listening for the very first time
... just to let you know that this thread has caused one extra human being to listen to their work/now I'm also going to acquire this Low Level Owl record too.
Yeah, I can give you links to both
You should buy them though. They're 'ambient post hardcore' or whatever you wanna call em. Just really good.
i bought both parts of Low Level Owl
in that Deep Elm sale last year. I finally gave Pt 1 a spin a few days ago and it's really very nice. Need to listen more...
pt II is more ambient and challenging
but I think you have to play them both back to back. It's very simple, but completely brilliant and clever at the same time.
^this
it's one of a tiny tiny tiny percentage of double albums that actually works well as a whole...
One of the only bands on Deep Elm
that I ever listened to. LLO was great at the time, but I'm not sure I could listen to it again now.
fantastic band
weirdly saw them at , i suspect, the dublin castle in camden a few years ago.
charm-a-licious.
I have only one song by them
and fucking love it. I should get more
The two low level owl albums
are absolutely fucking wonderful. I've listened them to death though. Their last one was excellent too. The rest of their back catalogue is far too emo for my liking, but LLO stands on its own as a masterpiece.
I saw...
...Appleseed Cast, supported by Cursive, in a tiny pub in Liverpool about 6-7 years ago. Cursive were amazing and the Cast were pretty good, although negative marking for the serious grump that Christopher Crisci got into about the sound quality. End of the Ring Wars is the best one for me.
dear god
you lucky, lucky bastard
Mare Vitalis
is my favourite, but I do love LLO.
Only recently got into them after seeing them play with Jeniferever in 06, they were magical.
I saw them
They were dullllllll.
Ironically, Little Explorer and Jesus Years played that night too, and were much better with their Appleseed Cast rip off riffs.
Still love Mare Vitalis, but I always preferred Christie Front Drive for this sort of stuff.
Agreed on CFD,
or Mineral.
they are great
Steps and Numbers is one of my favourite songs ever
appleseed cast are awesome
I only have Peregrine
and it's really boring...
i saw them live
just after mare vitalis came out and it was totally incredible
low level owl = BORING!!!!!!
lies, damn lies
Did you manage to sort your mac charger out?
i only have
Peregrine, which is really good, and Two Conversations, which has it's moments but gets a bit annoying if you listen to the whole thing at once.
By the sounds of it I haven't got their best stuff yet...
I've only heard some of
Peregrine.
Marigolds and Patchwork is excellent.
peregrine is hella boring.
anything previous is brilliant. i exploded a bit when they did 'fishing the sky' live.
August tour.
YESSSssssssss.
Although as an album it's nowhere near Mare Vitalis
Peregrine is still decent. Ceremony is such a good opener.
