Ok, so we had the Springsteen love-in thread recently - which got me thinking about Tom Petty. Now, I don't expect anywhere near the level of love The Boss gets around here - but I'm curious to know what everyone thinks of him (with or without The Heartbreakers).
Was listening to American Girl this morning - such a great song.

Tom Petty is awesome
I even like his recent records. The last one 'Highway Companion' was especially great.
Oh yes!
Full Moon Fever is also a great album.
Oh, yes.
Allllright.
Take it easy, baby.
make it last all night.
She wus... an ameerrrrican guh-uh-url.
I hate how the Strokes totally rip him off.
I was thinking this the other day
Casablancas basically apes Petty's delivery.

he's a great songwriter.

...one of these 'heartland' US rockers - like Mellencamp, Steve Miller, etc - who never seem scared to travel - when was the last time any of these played the UK/Europe? They seem happy to play it safe on the same midwest circuit...
