i just got hold of their album and a couple not so rare live tracks thanks to myspace, but it's got me thinking...
i actually really like them, took me a while to come round tho.
so what do you reckon?

Foals are much better than most bands of their ilk at the moment...
I personally would describe them as a very, very good band.
And they are fucking awesome live.
I like them a lot.
I always knew they'd properly hit the big time, once the album was ready. They deserve it.

i think it happens to every new band that's actually good/covers new ground/or is a bit fresh, everyone starts name checking them to be cool even if they think otherwise and then comes the plethora of imitators...
I agree with the name-checking thing.
They have become the band to say you like to look cool. Particularly since Balloons was released, I've noticed. Which is annoying, because I've been into them for well over a year and don't want to be tarred with that brush.

You also get the opposite
where name checking about how shite they are also works in their favour. I personally don't get "it" but that might be my fault and not theirs.

I've never loved them or hated them. I just like them but when I saw them live last summer I was a bit dissapointed but it probably was due to the crowd.

On one hand, they're miles better than the mass of Pigeon Detectives/Kooks indie. They don't sound like anyone else, which is a good thing.
On the other hand, that plinky plonky guitar-deulling thing can get boring after a while, and it tends to make all their songs sound the same. Cassius is a great sing, but it kinda makes everything else sound like a not-as-good version.

It is kinda funny how often they pop up on here, but it probably has been/will be the same when any other 'next big thing' type band is around.

there alot better than most new and not new shit out.the album takes a good few listens but now its great.

seen them twice. I like them alot but I dunno if I'll see them again. The Astoria show was good times though.

I think i'd be much less scathing of the likes of Los Campesinos if they were around when I was 16 and genuinely excited by music, but everything's a bit shit and we need someone to really save us!
