i've recently moved back to derby and may investigate the local band scene...all the bands seem a bit shit though...
but you slut! are playing next week. and i seem to recognise people from plans and apologies...
is the derby scene alive or is it as dead as it was years ago when i left?
WHORE
thanks
erm...i'm listening to the deirdres now...and have listened to many more derby bands....is there someone out there? please!?!??
someone as good as koleszko maybe...
i think that's your lot.
how about nottingham?
there used to be good bands from there...and i dont mean pitchshifter
sadpunk
isnt sadpunk
a character in DiS?
no
just a legend...
The Little Explorer and The Jesus Years
(and the now defunct punk-pop brilliance of The Removals. Any band that uses a Gresley Rovers badge as their Myspace picture gets my vote)
Also this promotion team: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=359907582
Alternatively, just go and drink in the Vic every night. I'll join you next time I'm wom.
are the little explorer still going?
they were fantastic, especially live, cracking drummer. I want to find my album with the blue cover again :(
little explorer
broke up
..i think
Derby is dead
Jesus Years split up over a year ago.
Little Explorer have split up but might play a final show(s).
Plans and Apologies are still together but what seems like a decade on don't appear to have achieved anything yet.
Twinkie have just split up. Lords are still together and still great. Moo does stand up as Dr Coca Cola Mcdonalds now, which is definitely worth going to see.
My Psychoanalyst are great shoegazy stuff, though. Probably the only band left in Derby that I like.
Oh, You Judas are good, and Komakino have just reformed with Matt Spalding on bass as You Animals.
Bamos, did you used to post on derbymusic?
I heard about Moo
hasn't he been given a tv show in america or something?
Yeah, but I can't remember what it is
He's been on BBC Three a few times as while.
I love Moo. He deserves any success he gets. He's always been nothing but good to me even when I was a fat little kid in a fleece that didn't have a clue about the music scene.
he was
at the you slut! show last night. i overheard him say nothing interesting
matt spalding
is a lovely guy
I would go further. 10/10 A+++++
i hate the vic
andy was always so rude to me when me and my indie band friends went....they locked up once when we still had gear inisde...then they locked up again after that one trip back in....even though we still had gear inside
bastard
and the soundman was always late
My friend got barred for pissing on the dog on his 18th birthday.
thanks though
for the bands...
theres a new venue
opening in Derby next month, dunno if you've seen? http://www.theroyalderby.co.uk/ ....its opposite the old debenhams, like ABOVE the post office and those shops there. Looks like it gonna be reallyreally good, being set up by Mick Sheehan and a guy that i think has something to do with Rock City and the Rescue Rooms in Notts. Its gonna be a lot like Rescue rooms i guess...Theres a 450 capacity room and a 250 room so there should finally be some quality touring bands coming to Derby! hurrah! x
i saw you slut!
they were good and they played a short set which i always like in a band....no encore. amazing. bought the cd and got a badge. i'm back in derby and i saw a good derby band. woooooo!!!
i also saw some people i havent seen in many many years. apparently they still exist.
