I know this is a really dumb thick question and I'll sound like a total n00b, but whatever...basically, what's the deal with bringing your own booze to festivals? (I'm specifically talking Latitude, but anything really). Are you genuinely not allowed to bring any of your own at all? And is it shit expensive on site?

I don't think the alcohol on site is terribly expensive at Latitude. You have to pay £1 for a snazzy reusable cup that you can either keep or return at the end of the festival though.

Last Year
Latitude when I was there last year was standard Campsite & Arena festival like Reading/Leeds. You could bring your own beer for the campsite but couldn't take anything into the arena.
I prefer the Glasto/Summer Sundae/Truck/Bestival method of once you are in you are in, take your beer wherever you want.

You can take empty water bottles through and fill them up inside, but that's it. Obviously, I also prefer the other system...

As far as i know...
for most festivals they wont let you take your own drink into the arenas. And no glasss on the entire site for obvious reasons.
Probably the same at latitude, so drink at camps etc.

it's like £3 a pint, but not for shitty carling but for lovely cider and stuff!
MY best ever result
at Reading a couple of years ago. They relaxed the rules so that you could take your own food into the arena. I hid a bottle of gin and tonic in a pipe of pringles. Saw BSS, some comedy ran about a bit hyper, sobered up very quickly.

I went to Secret Garden Party last year which was great other than the blanket ban on all alcohol being brought into the site.
We still brought a lot of spirits in, we just waited until nightfall.
