So....I set up a netlabel (JAGATTACK)

I had been thinking about it for a while, a number of things fell into place and I bit the bullet. 4 days old, 9 releases, and 19 acts involved.

That's not bad going!

The site will be undergoing some changes (making prettier), but the skeleton is all there.

The whole idea behind the label is just to put things that I like up there free for download, hopefully this will lead to the artists getting listened to by more people, hopefully this will get them shows, hopefully this will eventually get them money, and then hopefully I will retire with no money made.....but content and happy that I've finally decided to do something constructive.

If you're in a band, or want to do something for Rack & Ruin then please contact me (info on the site), unless you're on some major label who'd probably sue me. If you're not in a band, and want to download and listen to the bands on Rack & Ruin, then do so..... and then buy an instrument.

Oh, and if you pass on the message, I will love you even more!!

Best
Dean

Best of luck with this!

Sounds ace. Nine releases after four days must be some kind of record too. I'll have a listen soon but I don't need any more instruments really.

good luck

armless

Just to say

I REALLY like The Maccadamia Brothers.

See also: Moon Runners

actually a really good label so far, as I listen through the acts on it.

Thanks

for the words of encouragement!!

The Macadamia Brothers will be releasing a physical EP on http://oldliferecords.com/ in Canada in the coming months.

He's also putting together a download for Rack & Ruin.

If you like The Macadamia Brothers, then you might like These are Words, Jason the Swamp, Tyson Brinacombe and TASRU.

i didn't know!!!

oh my god i was going to go out for dinner with you to that place where blind waiters serve, but you're alley's boyfriend! eeeeek!!! :P

Haha

I wish alley were here right now to read this.

this is totally unfair

i end up part of a dis tag team and we're accused of wanting to sex each other, just because we've got opposite private parts. no one ever accuses meths and sadpunk of wanting to knock boots.

ps: threesome?

You're sexy

stop it

(ps: if you really loved me, you'd stop using that stupid "death" account)

You don't know the half of it

good-looking.

fucking hell, are you kidding me?

i'm not even going to dignify this with a reply.

ps: howzabout we stop spamming up the music board?

I don't mind

I got a morning bump of my thread without asking!!! :)

maccadeamia brothers

are really good, but actually, pretty much any band coming out of vancouver island is good. i dont' know why..i guess the fresh air, the whale watching..i dont' know...

as a panda_bear stalker (not really but of sorts)

i am enthralled to learn your name!

ohohoooohhooooooohh

I almost have a stalker

how exciting!

oh god i was just about to ask death

to write something below so my statement wouldn't be so obvious :(

ps you owe me a mixtape

just because i like you

This is a cunningly disguised bump

As there was interest in this thread, I just wanted to say that the Macadamia Brothers EP is now up for download..... along with 13 other treats.

Also - be my friend on Myspace. You know you want to.

BUMPAGE

This is a blatant bump to advertise my sites wares to the masses. The site is still to be "prettied up", but that will happen soonish, the important thing is that there is lots of free music available to the masses, and more to come! We have had an awful lot of interest, and some amazing news around the corner, but for now go to the site - check out the sounds, and download any that may be of interest:

Depends...

...on what sort of music that you like. Best thing to do is check out the player to get an idea as to what the artist will sound like. When the site is prettied up, then it will be easier to see what is more on the indiepop side of things, and what is more ambient / experimental / noise etc.

TASRU (rrr009) is the most downloaded, it is indiepop for sure, as are Jason the Swamp, The Macadamia Brothers, These are Words, Dublin Duck Dispensary, and Tyson Brinacombe.

ambient / electonic / chill out stuff, Neil Scrivin, Rob Bridgett, Keep away from heat..., Gnomefoam, deskktop

Noise / experimental - Roger Haddad, Timbre, Billy Say

ello

I found These Are Words through e6townhall.com this week... they're great. really glad I found them. Might check out some stuff off your website...

I'm going to DIS HELL

for bumping this again, but I'm prepared to meet my maker:

We've got some amazing dude (that I'm a big fan of) putting together an EP in a few weeks..... he's pretty well known, so I'm shocked that this is happening.. in the mean time, this is a video for one of the tracks on Jason the Swamps new album:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0o7bFwWr2o

Also released today was an EP. RRR039 - the death of barra, by Harold Nono. Harold Nono has three albums available to buy from Bearsuit records (the latest was reviewed in Aprils "The Wire" magazine, amongst other places), a collab with Berlin musician Me Raabenstein under the moniker Taub, coming out in September on Nonine Recordings, and another collab with Japanese composer Hidekazu Wakabayashi coming out later in the year.....

needless to say, this EP is gorgeous.

as ever, all are free to download from www.rackandruinrecords.com - please download, tell your friends, burn for people, distribute, blah blah blah....

I am gona have a listen thru

of lots of this stuff it sounds interesting. If I find lots I like I will stick links up on my blog and stuff.

please do!

I'm just trying to expand as much as I can purely through word of mouth. I'm curious just to see how far I can carry this. Already there are some really exciting things in the pipeline, so any link / recommendation / burnt CD for a friend, is a huge help!

cool

I will stick a link on right now infact cos the tunes on the player are really good. The when I have heard more stuff I will write about them in a propper post. Good luck soundslike it's going well.

i get myself organised i will send you some of my songs.

cool!

Will look forward to it.

Hey!

It's time for me to bump this - whenever I get some awesome news.....

http://freddyruppert.blogspot.com/2008/05/new-net-release.html

Doesn't get much more awesome than this!!

Freddy Ruppert (formally, This song is a mess but so am I), will be releasing an EP or album on R&R.

Freddy is also reportedly going to be working on a project with Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), and another one with Jharek Bischoff (The Dead Science)

I'm happy! :)

bump for _

I have been listening to _ for the last few days and I can't get enough of it :)
