You're at a gig and they bring on an unannounced special guest to do a couple of songs with them. Which suprise guests made you act the most like a 13 year old girl at a Beatles concert?

Brian Wilson

introducing Van Dyke Parks at world debut of Smile at RFH

when

bright eyes brought out ben gibbard and nick zinner to play a postal service song.
i had a lil indie wet dream watching it.

whaaaaa?

when/where was this?

i went

to the usa bright eyes were doing a 5 night stint in New york.
i planed on going, then got into a car crash... so phoned the box office the next day on the chance of any returns - got seats middle row 5 for like $30.
absolutely amazing.
gibbard did i will follow you into the dark then bright eyes et al came on and played we will become silhouettes.
i've got some pix somewhere if i look hard enough.

ohhh

i figured it was then. i knew gibbard had guested but i didn't realise that was what they'd done. amazing!

When Pantera joined Gruntruck on stage...

.....though they did'nt so much play songs together as do a lot of coke.

At Benicassim last year

I didn't go see Babyshambles, for obvious reasons. Shane MacGowan came out and did Dirty Old Town with them :(

patti

smith has ruined a number of gigs for me :-(

I want a restraining order put on her

patti smith with R.E.M.

she came on to do E-Bow The Letter with them at Hyde Park in 2005, could have been awesome but was sadly pretty underwhelming :(

That said, the murmur of surprise and gratification running through the crowd (well, those in the know, anyway...) when Michael Stipe announced her was pretty cool.

Does why? and

Doseone doing a cLOUDDEAD track together at ATP.

Not really a surprise

but seeing Aidan Moffat do R U Still In 2 It? with Mogwai was pretty mad.

See also, QOTSA bringing out Mark Lanegan....

dj shadow show a few years ago at the bristol academy

nearing the end of the set, thom yorke nochalantly walks up to centre stage and sings 'rabbit in your headlights'. never seen a crowd go from quiet to crazy in that short a time.

Russell from Bloc Party with Stars at ULU

Also Maximo Paul, someone from Art Brut and Towers Of London with the Rakes at Reading a few years ago was quite fun.

^ Not really that great

but the only examples I can remember.

Buck 65 joining Holy Fuck

Frank Turner joining Reuben to scream through Alpha Signal Three was good but he did it every night of the tour so it wasn't that surprising.

When Tom Jones

joined Stereophonics for a song at Wembley a few years back. Ohh yeah! Or did I just dream this?

When Islands got

Yoni Wolf to do the rap to Whalebone at La Route Du Rock a couple of years ago I nearly shat myself.

AND

with We Are Scientists at V2006. The slag.
